Of course, no one likes acne, but even worse than regular acne is cystic acne. Regular acne is bad enough but cystic acne can be so bad that it can almost be disfiguring. Add to this the fact that you can't predict or control when you're going to have a cystic acne breakout and you've got a disaster on your hands. Cystic acne isn't regular small pimples and blackheads - it's inflamed nodules on your face that can look like large knots under your skin. Not only do they look bad, they can be very painful and can't be popped like regular pimples. You can't just sit back and let this ruin your social life, so what do you do about it? Here are a few natural cystic acne treatments: Tip #1 - Make an Appointment With a Dermatologist First, find a good dermatologist - Cystic acne can cause permanent scaring. A good dermatologist will prescribe an antibiotic for your condition to prevent breakouts that can cause the scarring. The most common treatment is using the antibiotic Accutane or isotretinoin. About 90% of all cystic acne patients have success with this treatment. You do have to be careful though. Accutane has some serious side affects that you need to talk to your dermatologist about. Tip #2 - Cleanliness Wash your face at least two times daily. Cleanliness is your number one defense against Cystic Acne breakouts. Keep your skin clean from excess oil, clogged pores, and inflammation. It's easy and natural cystic acne treatment. Be sure to follow this advice. Tip #3 - Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid Apply Benzoyl Peroxide five minutes after you have washed your face if you have chosen not to use a strong prescription like Accutane. Find a product that has at least 2.5% concentration for the best results. You can also try using a product that has salicylic acid in it. Look for a product that contains at least 2% and apply it after washing your face. Tip #5 - Corticosteroid Another option when treating cystic acne is corticosteroid injections. It has been found that by injecting corticosteroid directly into the cysts, that it reduces the acne within a few days. This treatment also prevents scarring as it reduces the possibility of bursting of a cyst and dries it totally. It may be necessary for your doctor to cut open the acne and drain it. Cystic acne is both embarrassing and painful. Consult with your dermatologist and see if any of the above tips will work for you. Jason Ladock
