Why do fashion designers think that all plus size women want to wear a one-piece black, blue, or purple bathing suit? I don’t know either, but it seems to be all that designers can come up with. Maybe they should get another job? Hmmmm...
If you’re like me and tired of the "mind-boggling" selection of black, blue, and purple one-pieces, here are some ideas for finding a great, figure flattering plus size swimwear that you will look absolutely fantastic in.
The Don’t List:
Don’t shop in department stores. This is where those "creative" designers send all of the black, blue, and purple one-piece suits.
Don’t be hard on yourself. All women have something they don’t like about their body.
Don’t choose a suit that draws attention to a feature your don’t like. If you don’t like your tummy, don’t choose a bikini. Try a tankini that has a blousy covering for your stomach.
Don’t wear horizontal stripes. The plain truth about horizontal stripes is that they make you look wider. Most of us don’t want that. No.
Don’t stick with plain, one-color suits. Be bold. Choose some of the exciting new patterns and colors. When you’re wearing something you really love, it shows and you look better.
The Do List:
Do shop online. Start with searching "plus size swimwear". Here you will find many sites to choose from. On these websites, you can find just about any size you need and guess what? They have colors besides... you guessed it -- black, blue, and purple.
Do think about what you need a swimsuit for -- Do you walk along the beach? Get a suit that is comfortable for walking. Do you need to run after toddlers? Get a suit that has coverage for all those times you will be stooping and bending over. Do you just lay there and catch the rays? Wear whatever you want.
Do choose quality. Let’s face it. You get what you pay for. Plus size women need extra support and those cheap suits from the local discount store just don’t work, plus... their black, blue, and purple one-pieces.
Do look for a suit that accentuates your best figure feature.
Do look for swimsuits that have "tummy control".
Do look for wider shoulder straps to provide more support and comfort.
Do enhance the length of your legs with a high cut thigh.
If you’ve been putting off shopping for that plus size swimwear -- stop. Fix yourself a drink. Go online. Put your feet up and mix and match those swimsuit pieces to your heart’s content until you find just the suit you’re looking for... just not black, blue, or purple. Please.
