Eye Shadow Make Up Tips — Eye Shadow to Enhance Your Eyelid Shape
By Jason Ladock | Cosmetics | Unrated

Eye shadow when applied correctly makes the eyes beautiful. People notice the eyes as one of the first facial features. Take advantage of the people noticing you by making a lasting good impression with the right eye shadows you use.

Eye shadow colors drastically improve how your eyes appear. When the right colors are used, they enhance the color of your eyes. Everyone has different colored eyes so use the color that is designed to enhance your eye color. Create a unique design for your eyes with the color and method you use to apply the eye shadow.

There are three shapes of eyelids, prominent, hooded, and deep-set eyelids. Knowing the type you have will mean the method of applying the eye shadow to create the best look.

If you have prominent eyelids, you want to make the eyelids look smaller and thinner. Use eye shadow on the eyelid and along the crease above the eye. Do not use a lighter shade of eye shadow since the lighter shade will only enhance the shape of the eyelid. Instead, highlight the eyebrow area.

If you have hooded eyelids, highlight this area providing a larger appearance of the eyelid. Create the illusion of the larger eye by using eye shadow on the creased area of the eye that is blended outwards to the corner of the eyes. This will create a drastic effect of the larger eyes and remove the hooded eyelid appearance.

If you have deep-set eyes, then you have a natural feature that allows you to do pretty much eye shadow design. You can apply the lighter shades or the darker shades without concerns of distracting from the eyes.

Using more than two shades of eye shadow creates a dramatic effect for all shapes of eyes. Laying and blending the shadows highlights the eyes illuminating them. Apply the darker shades toward the outside of the eyes with the lighter shades closer to the nose.

Use the lighter shades during the day. Apply pastels or muted tones to illuminate the eyes. For green eyes, use shades of green, gold, and browns. Blue eyes, use blues, purples, and gold shades. Brown eyes look great with gold, orange, blues, and greens. Use the different colors based on your eye color to draw the eyes of people to your eyes.

During the evening and darker times of the day, use darker shades of eye shadow. The nighttime eye shadows are darker due to the lack of light so the darker colors are needed to illuminate the eyes.

Add a lighter eyeliner to the outside of the eyes for a dramatic effect. Applying the eyeliner to the eyes anytime of the day brings out the eyes on the face.
