How to Apply Blush — Glow With the Perfect Blush
By Jason Ladock | Cosmetics | Unrated

Some feel the most beautiful woman has a blush to her face. The blush adds a glow to the face that is attractive and appealing. Having the glow to the face is every woman’s goal. There are many different types of blushes to use to get this effect.

Blushers are available in different colors and consistencies. There are power, cream, and gel blushes. The powder blush is the most common of the blushes. It is available in many colors to match any skin tone. It is easily applied. Many with oil skin types like the convenience and benefits of the powder blushes.

The powder blush is easy to apply with a brush. Dipped into the blush, the powder substance is added to the cheekbone areas of the face. Use a sponge to blend the lines of the blush into the foundation and smooth out the edges of the blush. This creates a natural look for the blush.

Cream blushes are recommended for dry or sensitive skin types. People with oily skin may use the creams yet they tend to experience clogged pores when using the creams. To apply the cream blush to the face, use the ring finger of the left hand if you are right handed. Gently dab the cream to the cheekbone regions of the face. Use a sponge to soften the edges for a natural appearance.

The negatives of using cream blushers are they tend to smear easier. Some do not blend with the foundation used on the face. This can cause a makeup disaster. Try to use the same brand of creamers as foundations to avoid this. To help reduce the smearing of the cream blush, apply a light application of powder over the surface of the cream to fix the blusher.

Gel blushes are the hardest of all the blushes to apply. They tend to smear and smudge. Application of the gel is similar to the cream blush. To maintain the gel blush, apply a powder over the surface of the areas after application. Gel blushes are also not recommended for people with oily skin. The gel will clog the pores of the face as well as possibly cause facial breakouts.

One of the mistakes women make when applying blush is they over extends the blush past the natural lines of the cheekbones. Only apply the blush to the areas of the cheeks remaining within the cheekbone lines. This creates a natural appearance.

Also, avoid using a blush that is too dark. The blush is intended to highlight the cheekbones. Using a blush too dark creates a clown appearance instead of the natural beauty you are trying to create. Remember, the blush is an additional makeup to enhance your appearance.
