Birth control is an effect method to avoid pregnancies. There are several natural methods to prevent pregnancy. Using the natural methods does not always work effectively so many resorts to using birth control devices to avoid unwanted or unplanned pregnancies. Here are some birth control options listed.
The natural method includes knowing the ovulation time for the woman and abstaining during this fertile time. Since the ovulation makes the woman easily pregnant, with sexual exposure, many fail to abstain and the results are pregnancy. To reduce the risks of unplanned pregnancies, many select a birth control method.
The general population uses different forms of birth control including condoms, birth control pills, birth control patches, birth control shots, and Intra Uterine Device or IUD. There are still risks with some of the methods yet the risks of pregnancy are reduced with each.
Condoms are a rubber material worn by the male. The condom prevents the sperm from entering the female. They are not considered completely effective so much be used with caution. The condoms are used only once then thrown away. The costs of the condoms vary on the product brand and the type purchased.
Birth control pills are chemicals that control the ovulation of the female. The female takes the pill daily in a package noting the days of each pill to be taken. There are case studies of women becoming pregnant while taking the pill as well as the possibilities of missing a daily dosage and becoming pregnant including the pill being nullified with certain medications. The pill is relatively inexpensive and covered by most insurance plans.
Birth control patches are thick beige patches that are square and stick on the body releasing a hormone that also stops the ovulation like the birth control pill yet the female does not have to remember to take the daily dosages since the patches remain on the body for a week reducing the requirements of daily ingestion. The patches are applied to the abdomen, buttocks, upper arm, or upper torso of the female.
The monthly birth control shot acts uses a hormone to restrict the ovulation of the female yet is injected by a healthcare professional once every three months reducing the risks of pregnancy. The site of injection is sometimes sensitive yet the discomfort does not last long. This means of birth control has higher rates for reducing the pregnancies and is far simpler than the over previously mentioned forms of birth control.
The Intra Uterine Device or IUD is inserted in the uterus of the female and can be worn for years to prevent pregnancy. It is the highest form of birth control without the requirements of daily, weekly, or monthly treatments. Most insurance companies for the procedure generally cover it.
While all the birth control devices reduce the pregnancies, they do not protect against any diseases that are sexually transmitted.
