Resurface Driveways

You do not have to worry about your concrete driveway being ruined with the cracks it has. There is a way to repair the damage without spending a large fortune. You can make the repairs yourself with simple materials you can buy at the local home improvement store.

Here are the instructions you can follow to repair the cracks in the concrete driveway that will make it look good as new.

1. Power wash the surface of the driveway.

2. Use the crack repair to prime the cracks in the driveway.

3. Apply the reinforced fabric material as part of the repairs.

4. Apply elastomeric basecoat over the fabric.

5. Apply patch polymer concrete over the surface of the fabric.

6. Grind the polymer concrete to a smooth surface as well as the surrounding areas of the crack.

7. Fill any holes with epoxy mortar.

8. After the surface has been properly repaired, apply prime coat and granule broadcast to the area of the old crack.

9. Mix ultra surface polymer.

10. Create texture coat by spraying polymer concrete over the area with a hopper gun.

11. Trowel over the texture coat to finish the surface.

12. Apply ultra surface polymer to the surface of the old crack and trowel the surface smooth.

13. To make color of the patch match the rest of the other concrete, apply colorcoat 100 concrete gray paint.

14. Apply sealcoat 1000 clear to the area after the paint dries.

15. Allow the sealcoat dry completely for about 48 to 72 hours before driving on the area.

Using this technique to make repairs in the concrete is also something to be used with other concrete areas such as the backyard patio or walkways. Since the patios and walkways both tend to form cracks, this method will change the battered appearance of the concrete, transforming it to a newer appearance.

The patio, walkways, and pool areas all are high traffic areas so it is very important to treat any cracks that may cause accidents for visitors or family members. Treat the areas before the cracks are too deep resulting in having to cut the old concrete out and replacing the areas, which is more expensive when left untreated.

Taking time to fix the cracks in the concrete is less expensive than waiting for further major damage. Avoid costly repairs to the concrete driveways, steps, patio, and sidewalks by patch repairing the areas when the cracks first begin. Invest in the materials for repairing the areas now before the repairs require more complex procedures and large amounts of money. The small amount of time you spend now will save you money in the future.
