Each year at Easter we buy cart loads of decorations, plastic Easter eggs, candy, plastic green grass, and other Easter related goodies. This is something fun to do with the kids. I have to wonder though why each year we buy more plastic Easter eggs when we still have the ones from the previous year. With every passing year our collection of those plastic Easter eggs grows. We hate to throw them out but can’t figure out what else to do with them. Here’s a perfect idea. Create an Easter basket centerpiece for your table.
You probably won’t have to purchase much for this project because most of the materials you will need are Easter things that you already have on hand. You will need a large wicker basket, various colors of plastic Easter eggs, plastic Easter grass, and a variety of Easter candy to create your centerpiece.
You are going to need a large work area and make sure that it is clean and dry before starting your project. Fill your wicker basket to the top with the green Easter grass. If there isn’t enough of the Easter grass to fill the basket to the top then you can fill the bottom of the basket with rocks or crumpled up newspaper and then fill the rest of the way up with the Easter grass. Spread the plastic Easter eggs out in the basket using different sizes and colors grouped together. Spread the Easter candy all around the Easter eggs. Put the sticks of various suckers into the holes in the wicker basket leaving just the sucker exposed. This helps create a decorative look to the outside of the basket.
Adorn your table with a white or pastel colored tablecloth and place your Easter basket in the center of the table. This completes your project and leaves you with a beautiful table centerpiece, and allows you to make use of those plastic Easter eggs. I guarantee that your children and guests will love the look of this centerpiece, and they will probably create their own Easter basket centerpiece for their table next Easter.
There is another variation to this project that you can try. If you don’t want to use plastic Easter eggs then you can also fill your basket with hard boiled eggs that your children painted and decorated for Easter. Instead of using Easter candy you could choose to fill it with flowers whether they are fake or real. You could also incorporate a few small stuffed Easter bunnies.
There are many different variations to this project that you could use and it is such an easy project to make that even your children can get involved.
