CD Christmas Ornament
By Jonathan Pitts | Decor Design | Unrated

This is such a neat craft and one that is so easy to create. When one of my daughter’s was in first grade her class made these as Christmas gifts for their parents. Another neat thing about this gift is that it doesn’t have to be reserved for Christmas. You can use any holiday theme in creating this craft project.

The materials you will need for this project are a blank CD, red, white, and green tissue paper, a recent picture of yourself, a red or green ribbon, and glue. Once you have gathered the materials you need you will need a clean work space such as a table to create your ornament.

Begin this project by crumpling and wrinkling up the tissue paper. Cover the back of a wad of red tissue paper and attach it to the top of the CD making sure to cover the entire CD so that no part of it shows. Then, cover the back of a wad of white tissue paper and attach it to the CD next to the red tissue paper you just place making sure that the two colors overlap slightly. Then, cover the back of a wad of green tissue paper and attach it to the CD next to the white tissue paper making sure that the two colors overlap slightly. Continue this process until the entire front side of the CD is covered in tissue paper.

Directly in the center of the front side of the CD glue the back of your picture and attach it so the hole in the middle of the CD is covered. Once the glue has dried, you can now turn the CD over so that the back of it is facing upwards. Form the ribbon into a loop and glue it to the top of the CD. Now, using the same technique as you did with the front of the CD, cover the entire back side of the CD with tissue paper, only this time, cover the hole in the middle of the CD with the tissue paper too. Once the glue has dried completely, your gift will be ready to wrap and give away.

The ornament I received was for Christmas so I hung it on my Christmas tree. As I said before though, this gift does not have to be reserved for Christmas. If you choose to give this gift as something other than a Christmas present, you could turn it into a picture to be hung on the wall. You could also place an adhesive magnet over the hole on the back of the ornament and it could be used as a refrigerator magnet. Any way you choose to display it will be fine.
