When you are wanting to get that job, land a promotion, or make those sales at work; you will want to make sure that you are dressed in a way that will help you to achieve your goal. You want to make sure that your attire demands respect and that you dress in a manner that represents the point that you are trying to make. You want to dress in a confident and well put together way that shows that you are worthy of what it is that you are trying to achieve.
The first thing that you will want to do is to consider the type of people that you are trying to impress to achieve your goal. If you work in construction for a small construction company and you are meeting with the boss, then you will still want to dress professional, but you probably won't want to wear a full jacket suit and carry a briefcase, this will not fit into your industry. However, if you work for a world recognized construction company, then this may be appropriate attire.
You will not want to dress too professional and stand out like a sore thumb to the people that you are trying to impress. On the other hand, you don't want to under dress, this could indicate that you don't think much of yourself, or that you aren't taking the meeting seriously. Or, under dressing can also indicate that you think that you are above everyone else and that you should be allowed to wear whatever you want. You don't want to come off this way because it is cocky and egotistical.
It is always a good idea to do a little research ahead of time to see what others in the industry are wearing. By educating yourself you will know how to dress appropriately to accomplish what it is that you hope to accomplish. You want to make sure that the clothing you are wearing is ironed and in very good condition, you want to take pride in your appearance and show that you have self respect and that you respect those around you.
You will do best by wearing neutral colors. You don't want to go into a business meeting wearing shocking and overwhelming colors that are a distraction. Some good colors to wear are black, brown, gray, and colors that are soft or dark. Stay away from colors like bright yellow, orange, or bright green.
