Helpful Carpet Cleaning Tips

Carpet is the most vulnerable place for all dirt and is also a great number of stains. If you have kids then the chances are further more. Following are some tips that can help you in protecting and cleaning your carpet.

• If anything spills on the carpet. Clean it thoroughly and immediately to avoid staining of the carpet. The cleaning agent that you select can only eliminate the stain. It should not fade the color of the carpet. Take good care of the carpet as it is a costly item that you purchase for your own home.

• If you have kids, do not prefer light colored one as the stains will be very visible.

• Carpet should be vacuumed at least once in a week. If the carpet is in a place where you move more frequently then there is a greater chance of dust accumulation. Then vacuum that area more often to avoid accumulation of particles on carpet surface to avoid breaking of delicate fibers of carpet.

• Vacuuming just once will not get rid of all the dirt. You should have patterns to follow that will result in overlapping of the vacuuming region.

• If you have pets then the carpets will easily catch the odors. To get rid of odors, use baking soda packet to the vacuum bag. Another problem with pets is the urine odor. You can eliminate these odors by using agents with enzymes that breakdown urine. Make sure that the urine does not go deep in to all the layers as it may cause a stain that is difficult to clean and may even result in formation of cuts in the carpet due to extensive soaking.

• Get the carpet installed by experienced personnel. Improper installation results in wrinkles that may even tear the carpet.

• The cleaning solution that you use should be tested initially. Stain cleaning should be done from outside to inside. This will avoid the spreading of the stain.

• Never allow even slight degree of moisture on the carpet. Sometimes it is possible that a certain degree of moisture retains in the deeper layers of the carpet. You can get rid of it by placing tissue papers pressed down by heavy weight over the wet area.

• After using the carpet for a very long period, it may not look clean by vacuuming it. To regain the look it needs a thorough wash. Before starting to shampoo the carpet try to eliminate individual stains. Never use the machine too hardly as it may result in breaking of gentle carpet fibers.

• As we place furniture on the carpet, small depressions are formed at the places where the furniture is placed. You can get rid of these by placing an Iron box very close to the carpet followed by adjusting the fibers with small spoon or coin. Make sure you never touch the carpet.

• If a small area of the carpet is burnt accidentally, you can restore it to previous look by gluing a carpet piece with the help of adhesives.
