Designing Kid's Bedroom
By Jonathan Pitts | Decor Design | Unrated

Designing kid’s bedroom is a very challenging task as your design ideas should meet the needs of the little ones. Kids cannot express their desires to a full extent. But, you as a parent should talk to them, identify their likes and dislike, especially the colors, and design their bedroom in a way that exactly matches their requirement.

Following are some ideas that will help to improve your kid’s bedroom design.

• Make sure that whatever the materials that you use for decorating the room should not do any harm to the child, especially in case of furniture. Avoid the use of very hard furniture as kids will suffer from injuries if they fall on them.

• Whatever the material you use, search for fun in them.

• To maintain the room warm, use an area rug and spread it all over the room. This will make the kids enjoy very well within their room even in peak winters. Now, while selecting these area rugs select the ones with fun filled pictures like the animals, alphabets, fruits and their favorite cartoon characters. The use of area rugs with pictures of animals, fruits or alphabets will help them to have fun filled education as children most of the times like to play on the floor.

• Another advantage of rug usage is that you can offer protection to your delicate darlings by preventing any injuries from wooden surface when they fall down while playing.

• Likewise, select curtains and other accessories with various pictures.

• If you are good at painting, consider painting the wall with nice pictures. Another option is you can glue some light weight toys of their interest on the walls.

• You can give them the feeling of sleeping under open sky enjoying the beautiful stars and moon by pasting radium stickers over the roof that shine bright in dark. Another way is you can just place an aquarium just by the side of their bed. This way they will just go to sleep very happily watching them.

• Regarding the mattress and bed make sure that it is highly comfortable for the kid. If they cannot sleep very happily they will become cranky at nights which will be quite annoying for you.

• You can add more fun by selecting specific shaped beds like that of a train, or small animal shapes.

• Color the walls with light colors that will reflect light and so as to keep the room bright. Use the color that your kids like the most and use it. For example, girls love pink color. Hence, if you are decorating your princess room, start doing it by painting the walls with pink. Another important aspect is the wall color you choose, it should go well with other accessories like the sofa and curtains.

Finally, the design of the kid’s room should be so attractive that they should indulge themselves in play and forget you. Involve kids in some minor works like hanging toys, or pasting some interesting pictures on the wall. This will not only teach them about how to do things but is also very interesting for kids to live in a room designed by them.
