A newborn baby may be tiny but their needs are manifold. You will have to be prepared for any possibility as far as babies are concerned. You need accessories for travel, sleeping, dressing, feeding and grooming. Baby gear is expensive, so some people prefer to buy used items or hand over items among family members and relatives.
When it comes to baby gear, you have a wide variety available in the market. How do you decide what your baby needs? Here are a few items to add on your checklist.
Newborn Baby Checklist
Baby clothes: These are a must. You will have received some clothes during your baby shower and friends and relatives who visit you and your baby, and they are likely to bring along clothes for your baby so limit the number of clothes you buy for your baby. Check out the items you have at hand and decide on what you need to buy. Only buy depending upon the weather and don’t buy expensive clothes for your baby because they grow really fast.
Baby bottles: They are essential even if you breastfeed because after some time you will have to give your baby juice and water. If your breast milk supply reduces, you may have to feed your baby formula milk. These bottles come in handy during this time.
Sterilization units, bottle brushes and teat cleaners: Sterilization units are essential for sterilizing everything from baby bottles to teething toys. Similarly, bottle brushes and teat cleaners will help clean bottles and teats by removing any debris that may have accumulated in hidden corners.
Diapers: You will need to choose a good brand of disposable diapers because low quality stuff can cause diaper rashes. If you go in for the non-disposable type, you will need to fasten them using nappy pins.
Changing mats and wipes: It is a good idea to place your baby on a changing mat while changing diapers. You will also need wipes to wipe that sweet baby bottom.
Baby bags: You need a bag to carry baby’s stuff when you travel. You will have to take along plenty of extra diapers, changes of clothes, bottles, wipes and towels. Choose a spacious bag so that you can accommodate both yours and your baby’s stuff.
Baby cots/cribs: Buy baby cots and cribs which confine to safety standards. These days you have cots with nets attached so as to protect your child from mosquitoes and the like.
Baby nail clippers, bibs, buds and such little items that are often left out from the list of baby gear, perhaps because they are so small. Nevertheless they are indispensable.
Baby slings, car seats, strollers: These are another must have. They allow you to take your baby along when you travel. Moreover they are easy to handle and safe to use. The best part is that your baby will be happy and comfortable.
The list goes on. As your baby grows, his needs change and you will have to add new items and delete some from your list of baby gear.
