Stretch Marks Surgery – A Modern Day Treatment
By Mark Perry | Skin Care | Unrated

Stretch marks are just not really attractive, especially if they are on parts that show after clothes, for example arms etc. Science has provided us with many remedies to eliminate these stretch marks, which include lotions, creams, and home-made stuff. A latest method has been introduced in the market, which is removal by the use of laser surgery. Does laser surgery really eliminate stretch marks and is it a safe method to do so? I plan on addressing this question more in detail in this article.

So lets start with the most basic question first. Why do stretch marks happen to people in the first place? Well they appear when your skin is stretched beyond its elastic limits, and this mostly happens when you gain or lose weight rapidly. When the fibers are pulled to the ultimate maximum, they cause scars on the skin. Men don’t commonly get these, but it’s absolutely normal if they do get these lines.

Stretch marks are more of a problem for women then men. Men can wear boxers and clothes to hide them, but most women don’t have that privilege as they appear on the unwanted areas of the body, and therefore are very difficult to conceal. These scars are also governed by the genetics and hormonal changes, along with pregnancy and sudden weight changes of course.

Stretch marks surgery with the aid of laser has been opinioned as a good method for those who want to get rid of these unwanted stretch marks. What you should keep in mind though, that once you get them, you cannot get rid of them totally. They always stay with you and bug you, but what could be achieved through laser surgery is that you can minimize the appearance of stretch marks on your body to such an extent that they wouldn’t be visible to eyes. This still helps a lot, as the main reason for treating these marks with anything in the first place is to hide them from others, right?

So how does laser surgery works for treating these scars? Well laser is used in such a way, that it transmits through the skin, and gives stimulus to the skin centers which produce collagen. Collagen is a protein which actually forms the structure of the skin. Hence when collagen is produced, the skin under the scars thickens to such a point that the scars fade out and the skin looks pretty much even.

Stretch marks surgery through the aid of laser generally lasts for about five to six sessions, which implies that you actually have to do it more then once in order to fully ensure that these unwanted scars will indeed go away.

The downside of this surgery is that it’s really painful, and not to mention, expensive.
