Treating Facial Scars – Treatments or Precautions?
By Mark Perry | Skin Care | Unrated

Who likes scars on their body? No one! Well but there are some kind of scars that are even worse then the others, I mean the last thing you would want is scars on your face! It is so frustrating; I mean every time you look in the mirror, you get angry at those scars sticking their tongue out to you. They are reminders of that injury or accident that you had when you were young, and you just get afraid that people won’t like you, because all they see is a scar.

Facial scars generally have many reasons behind them. While an injury or a surgery might have caused them for sure, you would also get them from acne, particularly when you had a habit of picking at your skin or popped blemishes. But who cares about the source? What you keep thinking about is that you have an ugly scar on your face. Fortunately, you have many options in front of you when it comes to treating facial scars.

The best option could of course be prevention. The skin of face is really sensitive, and you shouldn’t go around not caring about it, as it is really scar friendly. Always keep your face moisturized, clean and use a sunscreen to protect from the harmful effects of the sun. Well if you already have scars, it’s too late to prevent right? But you have a lot of options in front of you to eliminate, or at least reduce the appearance of facial scars.

Beauty industry has shown us wonders in this regard. There are many lotions, creams and oils available in the market that can get rid of facial scars in no time. You can even ask your doctor to give you a suggestion or prescription on which one to use for your specific condition. If you are out buying one for yourself, I would suggest you to find ones which have Vitamin E or Aloe Vera as one of their natural ingredients, because these two promote the growth of healthy new skin cells.

If the scars are more noticeable, you could also undergo several other types of treatments, such as dermabrasion or collagen injections. Dermabrasion is the process by which the topmost layer of your skin is removed, so you get to allow the healthy and smooth inner layer to replace it. Collagen is the protein made naturally by skin which is the main protein for skin structure. Collagen injections do tend to wear off though, and you might have to repeat that kind of treatment regularly.

The types of method you opt for treating facial scars mainly depend on the type of facial scars you have in the first place. While there are many natural skin care creams out there that would do the trick, you might also want to look out for other options such as dermabrasion or collagen injections.
