Doing some simple eye makeup can enhance your eyes and make it look larger and expressive. To apply eye makeup, start with an exfoliated face.

Eye shadow and eyebrow highlight

The basic secret of good looking eyes is to start applying a great combination of base eye shadow and also eyebrow highlight. Eye shadow should look subtle and light on the eye lids and should blend well with your skin colour.

You can apply a contrasting colour in the sockets of your eyes starting from the inner corners and then extending it to the edge of your eyes to get an accentuated look.

Apply evenly on your skin using a sponge applicator. Some eye shadows can give a very fancy look with its shimmering effect. However, it is advisable to stay away from dark colour eye shadow unless you want your eyes to look smoky.

Highlighting your brow bone is extremely important for enhancing the look of your eyes. For this purpose, you can use a pearlescent shadow of a good skin cream which comes in various shades of white, off-white, gold and silver.

Eyeliner

Liquid eyeliners yield better results by giving a sparkle to your eyes. Pencils give a matte look. The eyeliner should only be applied on the upper eyelid as a thin line. Dark colours like charcoal grey, black, deep blue, brown or other dark shades with shimmer are preferable.

Sparkling pencil

This should be used on the lower eyelid once the eyeliner dries out. The shade of this pencil should match with the tone of the brow bone shadow colour. Apply this very lightly to achieve a striking contrast between the dark eyeliner shade of the upper eyelid and light shade on the lower eye lid. This part of the makeup can hide dark circles and shadows.

You can also use an eye concealer for hiding dark circles. This should be one shade lighter than the foundation you use.

Other enhancers

• You can dab the same shade used on your brow bone to highlight inner corners of the eyes which is the area between the nose bridge and the edge of your eye

• Triple coats of mascara on your upper and lower eye lashes can peek out your peepers

• Swarovski crystals on the outer edge of your eyes are highly suitable if you are going for a party

While you apply a good eye makeup, do not ignore the other parts of your face. A wholesome makeup would yield the best results

• Lip-gloss adds a sparkle to your eyes and makes your face look glowing
