How to Choose a Baby Stroller
By Mark Perry | Equipment | Unrated

Baby strollers are a very useful utility for parents to handle infants and small children on a daily basis without becoming too tired by lifting them a lot of times. There are a variety of choices available for choosing a stroller. Lightweight strollers, strollers for different terrain types, carriage type strollers and also heavy strollers with a lot of accessories and features. Depending on your lifestyle, you can pick up a stroller of your choice.

In the case of taking your baby for long outings to grocery stores and shopping malls, you may require strollers that are easy to move and sturdy. For short errands, a lightweight umbrella stroller is more suitable. Jogging strollers are used for parents who want to go for long walks or jog along with a baby. Generally, it is advisable to have a heavy duty stroller and also a light weight one as your activities may vary during course of time.

Strollers with multiple occupancy facility are very useful in case you are thinking of having more than one child. These strollers are of very good quality. Though the initial expense may be high, they are very useful and convenient in the long run.

While purchasing a stroller, the buckles should be convenient to latch and unlatch. The stroller should not be too small for your child; otherwise, it would cause a lot of discomfort. The belt should fit in well around the waist of your baby and the straps that loop into the waist belt should protect him from slipping and falling. In the case of jogging or rough terrain strollers, opt for a 5 point harness for best safety measures.

The stroller should have an adjustable seat which should recline fully. It would offer enough support to the heads and should be comfortable for your child to nap while on the move. An adjustable canopy is ideal to protect the baby from extreme or undesirable weather conditions like wind, rain, heat or cold.

Lightweight strollers are generally made of strong plastic and may last for a long time. Heavy duty strollers are made of steel and aluminium which permit rough use and also last longer.

The fabric used in the stroller should absorb moisture and be easily remove in order to wash them occasionally. Removable seats are also generally a preferred choice.

Heavy duty stroller should have enough storage area to carry the required accessories for your baby especially in the case of a long travel or outing.

Brakes are a must for strollers to control the movement of the wheels. They should be strong enough to lock the wheels immediately. Swivels should allow you to easily move the stroller in the direction you want. The wheel base should be wide enough to give the required stability

Opt for adjustable handle in order to make it comfortable for the person who is using the stroller. The stroller’s open and close mechanism should help you to fold with one hand while you use the other hand to hold your baby.
