It is commonly known that breeding ferrets is not an easy thing to do. First of all, they are not congenial as other domesticated animals and it is no fun having them around. They fight and their mating rituals as well as the seasons would make people cringe. However, there is a growing body of people who believe in breeding ferrets and insist that it can be done. This article is for those who plan on breeding ferrets and is intended as some sort of reference or vital facts for ferret breeders. Before you decide to get yourself a ferret, keep some things in mind that will make your life easier.
Ferrets are notoriously temperamental and that you should ensure that having more than one ferret may be something that you would not regret. The ferrets that you should breed are a combination of male and female. This is because ferrets are known not to get along well when they are of different genders and you may be the witness for their fights. It may even take you to the point of getting out of the business of breeding ferrets. So, if you do not want to end up like a neurotic watching ferrets fight, it would be better if you had a brood of female ferrets in case you decide on having more than one ferret.
Once you have decided to breed ferrets, you should be aware of their mating seasons. This is a vital fact for ferret breeders as the males and even the female ferrets can get very edgy when they are in heat. You should ensure that your female ferret is taken to the male after a fortnight of heat so that it becomes the optimal period for mating. And if you are squeamish, it is better not to watch them mate as the mating process gets very vicious and you may be left wondering whether they are mating or fighting each other to death. Rest assured that you have to hold your patience until the mating rituals are over.
Breeding ferrets is not for those who do not have deep pockets. Ask any of the ferret breeders and they will tell you that this is one activity that needs a lot of expenditure from your side as well as an ability to last the course. There are rewards, but you have to wait for them. So, before taking a decision on breeding ferrets, be sure to consider all angles and talk to experts and other breeders to get an idea of what it is all about. Knowing vital facts for ferret breeders online or by asking around is not a bad idea either. Finally, breeding ferrets is not like keeping a dog or a cat at home. It is something that would test your patience and your will to withstand the rigors of breeding ferrets. Consider all factors and only then decide on the course of action.

Ridiculous. I have kept ferrets - numerous mixed sex groups - and they are, generally, quite amiable towards one another. If kept correctly they are no more 'temperamental' than the average cat or dog. Incoherant article with poor information.
