How to Train a Dog, Tips and Guidelines
By Mark Perry | Pet Related | Unrated

Just like you train your kids for good manners, pets should also be trained for good manners. They have to be checked for any behavioral problems and should be trained to correct them to avoid further problems. The assistance of a veterinarian can be taken to obtain some help. Never be very harsh on your pet during the training session. Here are some tips everyone should know about training a dog.

• The initial step to train your dog is to teach it some simple commands like no, yes, come, sit, stand, heel and a lot more. Teaching the basic words will ease your training session. If you are in haste and if your dog is bothering, saying a single command like "no" will free you of the trouble. Never spank a dog; they may bite out of scare.

• Before trying to train your dog for behavioral problems, study the problem in-depth. Know of all the symptoms or problems your dog is facing.

• The most common cause for behavioral problems is our negligence to keep the dogs in perfect work. Dogs too need some exercise. Hence, best solution is to take them with walk regularly. This way you can teach them how to walk just by your side. On a weekend you can play with kids, during which time you can also train your dog on catching a ball or Frisbee.

• It is essential to train them on how to behave at times when they see a stranger and how to protect themselves at times of need or in dangerous environment.

• Potty training a dog is a must. If your dog urinates on the carpet or anywhere inside the house, clean it thoroughly to eliminate the urine odor. This will prevent the dog from reusing the same place. Rather than being hard, wait for the dog after having its food to clean its bowel.

• If you love to participate in pet sports, train your dog in thins like jumping over the ropes or training on cross walking right from when it is a puppy.

• If your puppy is spoiling your shoes and other things like carpets and rugs by chewing them, you can avoid that habit by spraying bitter sprays like that of bitter apple.

• An easy way to make your dog listen to you is rewarding them for their good job or manners.

• If you love to enjoy yourself a long vacation along with your dog, train them by placing in travelling box that is well fenced right from when it a puppy.

• Keep up the pace of learning. Make the dog recall what it is has been thought in the previous session.

• Of all the above tips, you as a dog trainer should first learn to be patient enough to teach the dog and let it take its own to learn.

By training your dog you will not only teach your dog some good manners but can also control behavior problems like aggressive nature, digging, indoor urinating or chewing that expensive upholstery of your interior decoration and barking without any reason. Thus with the help of the above tips, start to train your dog with ease.
