If you love to keep your puppy looking cute, then learn how to give your dog a bath in a very soothing and comfortable way. Here is a step by step procedure to give your puppy a nice bath, which it actually enjoys along with you.
• First, before giving a bath, prepare your dog for bath. Talk to it very soothingly. Straighten its hair by eliminating any knots in the coat. If there is a knot that doesn’t get rid of very easily, cut them. But be very careful. Never place the scissors very close to the dog’s skin. It may get frightened and may not co-operate with you in the rest of the bathing period.
• After you are done grooming the hair, take a cotton ball that is dipped in lukewarm water and clear the eyes, ears and the mouth region very gently and neatly.
• Now, arrange the lukewarm water for bath. Basing on the size of your dog, you can give the bath to your dog either in a kitchen sink or a large bathtub in bathroom. Water in the tub or sink should be up to the level of the legs. With the help of small mug, pour the water all throughout the doggy. Take care not to pour water on the face. It will get scared and may show bizarre behavior. Wash the face gently with hand.
• After the dog is wet, apply shampoo to it. You can specifically use dog shampoos or mild child shampoos. Never go for hard shampoos. At the time of shampooing observe if there are any skin infections, fleas, ticks and mites that irritate the pet. If so treat with specific agents as suggested by your veterinary specialist. Do not forget to clean the legs with care as they are the dirty areas of the pet and are also highly sensitive.
• Leave the doggy with the shampoo for about a minute or two. Then thoroughly wash off the shampoo.
• Let the dog dry perfectly. You can wrap the dog in bath towels until all the water drenches out of the coat. To dry the coat very easily you can use a blow drier. Use it only if your dog is co-operative. Make sure that the temperature is set at a very low range to avoid burning sensation to the dog skin. Give it a chance to shake itself. This will help the dog to get itself out of the fear and also helps to get rid of any water that is stuck within the coat. If you wish to stop the shake, hold the back of the neck region. But, give it a chance to enjoy that shake by taking to a place like garden where it can do it at its pleasure.
Here you are, done with washing your pet. Isn’t this an easy way to wash your pet? Always give your pet a treat with nice food that it loves to have after finishing the bath. If you reward the dog it will soon learn that taking bath is a simple task and there is nothing scary.
