How to Keep Up a Conversation Through a Date?
By Jonathan Pitts | Dating | Unrated

If you have met someone online and would like to keep the momentum going by keeping the conversations alive during the online chats, you should probably take some tips on how to keep up a conversation through online dating. There are millions of people around the world who would chat with each other every day. Many of these conversations end up with nothing whereas a tiny percentage of them lead to online dating and further to actual physical dating. In order to convert your online date to a physical one, you need to keep some things in mind. Remember that online dating means that the other person has to take you at whatever value you convey during the online chat. It is important for you to follow some basic rules and etiquette to ensure that you and your date stay connected.

First, keep the conversation straight and do not let unnecessary personal information and biases creep in to the conversation. Do not assume that since the other person cannot physically see you and you are separated by an electronic medium, you can take liberties with him or her. There are millions of people who will vouch for you that getting personal usually lead to the conversation getting terminated. So, give as much information about yourself as possible without revealing too many personal details. Keep the conversations going by small talk and also some other measures that are harmless in intent. Do not offer to share photos and other personal items unless asked for. The first attempt at conversation may not always yield the desired results and hence you should ensure that you have what they call a good pick up line.

Once you have initiated the conversation, do not be in a hurry to seek the other person out on a date. Instead, warm up to him or her gradually and slowly ask them out at the appropriate time. Keep the messages short and sweet and be reasonable in dealing with the other person. Shallowness that are otherwise frowned upon in normal conversation are the best bet in an online chat. Try to be witty without sounding cocky. Once you follow these rules, you can see the results for yourself. Many people balk at the thought of online dating because of the inherent risks that are involved in the process. That should not deter you if you are honest with yourself and the other person.

Once you have established a comfort level with the other person, then you can ask him or her out for an actual date. This is the most difficult part as it is usually not considered polite to ask them out initially. So, it is always better to hedge ones bets and wait for an appropriate time to ask the person out for a date. Finally, online dating requires patience and effort as compared to the normal dating process. However, the rewards are pleasant and memorable for those who stay the course.
