What Is Nitric Oxide?
By Mack LeMouse | Supplements | Unrated

Nitric Oxide is the latest supplement I’ve begun taking and is also currently my favourite. Whether or not most people have a ‘favourite’ supplement is besides the point. Nitric Oxide is the bomb. Furthermore, I’ve tested it on two other non-bodybuilders and they both agree with me.

The idea of Nitric Oxide is to increase the capacity of the veins to pump oxygen around the body and specifically to the muscles. What this results in is bulging muscles that make you look really pumped and make them feel harder too. On top of this you get vasodilation – meaning that your network of veins becomes visible under your skin – which is a desirable effect in bodybuilding circles and makes you look ripped to shreds. The great thing about all this is that you only need one dose – about three tablets – to see the effects immediately. With so many other supplements you’re left wondering if anything’s happening, or if it’s just a placebo effect. Not so with this stuff. That means that not only do you know you’ve got the real deal, but also that you can use it for aesthetic purposes. For example it would be great to use before a competition to get you looking as pumped and shredded as possible. Likewise it would be great to take if you were heading to the beech. I’m going to take it just before I see my girlfriend next and see if she notices a difference.

On that last note, vasodilation actually has two other benefits as blood gets other places quicker too. In the bedroom you might notice yourself with a firmer and possibly even slightly larger looking member. Genuinely. An erection is caused by blood rushing to your penis so increasing the body’s ability to do this logically results in a larger penis. The second idea is one I’m less sure of, but apparently by increasing blood flow you can also increase mental performance, as your brain is supplied with more oxygen more quickly as well as nutrients. In theory it could potentially increase VO2 max, though I’ve yet to find any studies on that.

Once you begin working out though you really notice the effects and that extra pump becomes… super pump. This is when your brain sends the extra blood over to the areas working and you get a real satisfying feeling of it working as you train. You also find yourself tiring out less quickly and having more oxidative energy available for those longer sets. Again this is instantly noticeable.

In theory, taking Nitric Oxide regularly for an extended period of time is meant to increase the size and hardness of your muscles. Personally I can’t see how this would be possible but actually against all odds it seems to be working for me. I need to look into the science properly, but people have commented in the last week I seem to have noticeably grown. Whether it’s from the Nitric Oxide or as a side effect of the longer workouts is yet to be seen. The only downsides to this miracle drug then are that a) the tablets are about as big as my fist (this is the Maximuscle range) and that they’re not cheap. This time though, they’re actually worth it.
