Effects of Cocaine on Human Body

Cocaine is one of the highly abused drugs all across the world. Many teenagers are becoming addict of this harmful drug. Most of the people are unaware about the disadvantages of cocaine abuse. This is an area of concern for many countries as their youth is going towards wrong direction. Cocaine can be snorted, injected and smoked. It has direct impact on our brain and central nervous system.

The effects of cocaine are harmful for human body. I will tell you some effects of cocaine on human body (long term and short term) in this article. First I will start with short term effects of cocaine on human body.

Short Term Effects of Cocaine

The short-term effects of cocaine will be noticed right away which can cause serious body damage and in some cases lead to death. They are:

  • Increased body temperature
  • Dilated pupils
  • Constricted vessels
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Mental alertness
  • Increased energy
  • Decreased appetite
  • Increased heart rate

Long Term Effects of Cocaine

Long term effects are caused by continuous abuse of cocaine. It is much easier to get rid of short term effects comparing to long term effects. Continuous abuse of cocaine does severe damage on human body especially on heart. They are:

  • Addiction
  • Restlessness
  • Mood disturbances
  • Irregular heart beat
  • Heart attack
  • Chest pain
  • Headaches
  • Nausea

Treatment for Cocaine

It is essential to address the users about the effects and disadvantages of cocaine and to give them tools to repair the damage that has been caused by cocaine abuse. Activities such as walk on the beach, meditation and following a daily meal plan are just a few of the ways to treat the cocaine addicts.
