Though not in all cases, but in some cases a close relation is observed between acne and lifestyle. In this article a light is thrown on how lifestyle influences the occurrence and severity of acne. Three factors namely the effect of stress, diet and exercise are discussed below. Gaining control over these three factors gives promising results of at least reducing the severity of the disease.
Role of Stress
A stress free lifestyle protects you not only from acne but also from other health risks like cardiac arrest and diabetes. Stress increases the secretion of adrenal androgens. Androgens stimulate the hair follicles and increase the secretion of sebum and keratin that clog the follicle resulting in pimples. If neglected it increases in severity giving a clumsy face full of pimples which no one love to see.
Role of Diet
Diet has great influence on health. As you know the major cause of acne is high amounts of sebum secreted that clogs the skin pores. Hence, simple solution to regulate acne is by reducing the consumption of foods that stimulate the secretion of sebum. Though not proven, it is believed by most of them that foods rich in fat and bad cholesterol increase the production of oily sebum. It is suggested to reduce the consumption of oily foods like fries not only to gain control over acne but also to maintain perfect health. Consuming fresh fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals helps to maintain perfect health. In some cases regular consumption of soy milk reduces the severity of acne. Consume foods that are rich in vitamins that promote skin health. These vitamins include vitamin-E, the B-group of vitamins especially B6 and B2 that help in curing skin cracks that occur as a result of breakage of acne lesions. Consuming fibre rich foods increases the digestion capacity and also helps to eliminate the ex cess fats consumed in diet.
Role of Exercise
Secret for having good health with optimum weight is the regular practice of exercise. If you exercise until you sweat you are eliminating a great amount wastes from your body. There is a myth that exercise aggravates the problem of acne due to the excess sweat that occurs during workouts. But the fact is that you are burning your fat and hence reducing the extent of oily content in your body and may regulate the production of sebum. Though this fact is not proven you can enjoy a healthy life and increased self confidence that most of them lose as a result of having acne on their face. If you are worried that sweating is increasing your acne problem have a shower immediately after your workouts.
One factor that increases the problem of acne in women is hair that remains in contact with face all the time. This will cause all the dirt and grease form the hair to be on the face all the time. As you know poor hygiene increases the risk for acne. Hence, it is suggested to tie your hair properly to avoid its contact from face.
Try to include the above changes in your lifestyle and you will definitely experience a change.
