When you are in a serious relationship, there are many things that can tell the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship. There are many things that add on to make a relationship healthy. Here are the top five traits of a healthy relationship.

1. Are you with the right person? There is nothing called as perfect but, you can have a near to perfect relationship. It is important that you are with someone who has same interests and likes being with you and shares your likes and dislikes. If you have different views on topics and have a tough time in doing what your partner loves to do then you are on a difficult path.

2. Does your relationship have the aspect of forgiveness in it? If you are looking for a serious long term relationship and wish to spend your life together, then you should learn to forgive each other on their mistakes. If you really love the person, it should not be a difficult task. It is easy to accuse each other in a relationship but forgiving is difficult. If your partner says something in anger, just shrug off the issue and move on. At times, people can be moody so just get adjusted and keep going.

3. Usually the relationship to become healthy depends on how flexible you and your partner are with each other. A relationship is basically give and take, one might like hanging out on a holiday while the other might like staying back at home and relaxing, this does not mean that you cannot hang out together or relax together. You should be flexible enough to move according to your partners’ desires at times. It basically means how well you understand each other and supports each other’s views and thoughts.

4. Usually relationships have problems because of lack of communication or miscommunication. If there is a communication gap and you haven’t had a proper conversation regarding issues looming over your relationship then sit down and talk. Speaking out things can work wonder for your relationship. Make sure that you don’t pile up issues and speak about them as soon as you find time, look for appropriate moments. Don’t start with arguments, just say it out politely. If you converse frequently and discuss your problems then it means that your relationship is on the right track.

5. Planning things together is also a sign of a healthy relationship. If you and your partner make financial and investment plan together or discuss about small issues and do things together, it signifies that you are in a healthy relationship. If you talk and discuss about every decision that you are going to take and how will it affect both of your lives, then this can make your relationship more joyful and easy to live with.

Being committed in a relationship means that you are not only living for yourself, but are also responsible for the other person. Both of you shares equal duties and responsibilities towards each other. So to keep your relationship healthy, learn how to trust each other, forgive the mistakes and talk out on problems.
