When breeding your dog with another, you need to get the permission of the owner of the other dog. Look out for the dog with which you want to breed your dog. Once that you have picked up the dog, you should make sure that you check the dog for genetic defects. Take both the dogs to the vet and verify on the medical health of both of them, so that there are no genetic defects in the puppies. The dog needs to be healthy at the time of breeding so that the pups are also healthy.

Get a thorough medical check up for any parasites and infections that the dogs have, which can lead to problems at a later stage. Have her vaccinations checked whether they have been given at time until the time of breeding. If there are any shots left, it is advised that you get them updates prior to breeding. Also, make sure that the dog is the right age for breeding. Most of the dogs usually can be bred at the age of 2 years so get information from your vet about it.

Keep a watch on your dog until they are on a heat period, and get both the dogs introduced and leave them in a closed room for some time. Observe their activities. Once you are sure that the breeding is over, remove the male from the room and clean the female. Keep her in a clean and peaceful area so that she is comfortable and observe her. You need to be careful about the health of the female and make sure that she does not fall sick during the pregnancy. Provide regular supply of food and water and keep a close watch.

Make a separate area with a blanket or a box big enough where she can give birth. Make sure that you have newspapers kept there so that it is easy to clean. Usually the delivery time for dogs is 65 days, so keep a watch on the days and be ready. The most important thing is to maintain cleanliness and have the female monitored closely every day. In case you are breeding your dog for selling the puppies, you need to get a license for that. Every state has different rules on this. So verify before you start breeding your dog.
