Is your child of the right age to enter kindergarten? The kindergarten readiness form an important phase of the pre-school life. However, it is not necessary that all the children of a particular age develop equally to enter kindergarten. Your child can take longer or shorter or an equal time as compared to other children when it comes to learning a skill. The kindergarten readiness does not verify whether a child will master a skill. And, when he/she masters it, it will definitely provide some guidelines that can help you determine the level of understanding that your child possess.

Working out on these aspects can help your child develop skills and help him/her be successful by the time they start kindergarten.
It is also important to understand that the age at which children start going to kindergarten differs from one state to another. Before you decide to send your child to kindergarten, it is important that you contact the School Board of your local county. Also, understand that kindergarten is an options program. However, there are some schools that would admit your child in kindergarten if you are unable to show any pre-schooling.
For kindergarten readiness, check with the schools near your area as to when would they start the screening. When these tests are offered by the school, then apart from different tests for the kids there will also be a section for parents. There are many day schools or pre-schools that provide training for the kindergarten readiness tests. Ask the day care center where your child goes to whether they provide any such facility. The kindergarten readiness test would test your child on the social, academic and physical life skills.
When getting your child ready for the kindergarten readiness test, make sure that your child can answer the questions mentioned below:
• Is your child able to write his/her name?
• Can he/she remember your house address?
• Can he/she differentiate between basic colors?
• Can he/she copy basic geometric figures?
• Can your child stand in a line?
• Can he/she listen to a story completely?
• Can your child tie his/her shoelaces?
• Does he/she know the alphabets and the numbers from 1-10?
• Can your child dress themselves?
These are some of the basic questions that your child should know when preparing for kindergarten readiness. They test the IQ skills of your child will also be tested in simple ways, whether they can follow a maze until the end or what comes after a certain letter. Before sending your child for any of these kindergarten readiness tests it is important that you, yourself verify the skills of your child, and help him/her develop in areas where they are lacking. This will not only help your child get admission into kindergarten, but also help you realize the things that you need to work on with your child.
