For any disease with high degree of incidence, a great number of products exist for its cure. One such skin disorder is acne that is seen in a great number of people especially teenagers. Care has to be taken while selecting products to treat the problem of acne. Some products just rob money from you saying that their products give good results in a very short period. Never get carried away by such commercial statements. Except for direct cortisone injections into the pimple, no other treatment is capable of giving cure within a short period of one or two weeks.
Here are some simple tips to be considered while selecting products for treating acne.
Know the Manufacturer
First thing to be known is that if the manufacturer is highly popular and maintains the standards specified by FDA. Generally branded manufactures have FDA approval and they sell their drugs only upon receiving prescription. Check for the reviews and analyze if they offer what they promise.
Check for FDA Approval
Some manufacturers try to deceive by producing drugs with similar composition and almost a name like those of the branded drugs that are approved by FDA. Hence, if you purchase a product or drug, check for FDA approval. You will come across such drugs if you purchase over the counter drugs. Hence, it is suggested to obtain a prescription from a licensed physician to avoid the risk of cheap drugs.
Check for Composition
It is suggested to use products that have moisturizers mixed with them to avoid skin dryness problems. Some of the manufactures do not offer what they give on the labels. Beware of such manufacturers.
Know the Mode of Action
Acne products work in various ways like regulating the sebum production or by altering the hormonal levels. Select the one that best suits your needs. Never go for drugs that regulate the hormonal balance if you are pregnant as it will cause adverse effects on the baby. It is not only these drugs that needs to be avoided if you’re pregnant, you should also avoid the usage of any oral pills during pregnancy. If you cannot withstand with your acne try some topical applications that are free of harmful chemicals and those which cannot pierce through the skin.
Know the Side Effects
Most of the products that are used to treat acne pose side effects. It is essential to know the side effects well ahead to act appropriately at the time of need. Topical drugs that are used in treating acne cause skin allergies. They have to be treated by using appropriate remedy and by stopping the use of the drugs. Oral antibiotic and creams result in developing bactericidal resistance. Hence, use them only under the advice of a doctor. Never overuse them. Once your body gains resistance to the drugs it becomes difficult to treat other bacterial diseases.
Compare the Prices
If you cannot afford high prices, search for drugs with similar action and safety but are available at a considerable low price. If you cannot find any drugs at your budget, you can go for home remedies that cost much less compared to drugs. But do not be too stingy and go for cheap drugs they may cause even more damage.
