Desserts are usually served cold. This is a good idea after a hot heavy meal, and everything else will be finished off with a cold and sweet dessert of the day. Besides, these desserts are quite easy to do because there is almost no cooking involved. It is more of mixing everything and then putting everything into the freezer to be frozen up, and served cold when ready. These are some easy and interesting cold dessert recipes that you can do.
1. Pineapple Cream Pie
Ingredients:
1 can crushed pineapple
8 oz cream cheese
8 oz cool whip
Just mix everything in a bowl. Put on graham crackers. Enjoy and eat!
2. Cold Dessert
Ingredients:
1 (16 oz.) pkg. cottage cheese
1 pkg. Jell-O (4 servings) (any flavor)
1 pkg. dream whip or cool whip (at least 9 oz., preferably more)
Prepare the jello by using one cup of hot water and 1/2 cold water. Just mix everything then refrigerate. This is best to eat when chilled.
3. Cookies and Cream Parfait
Ingredients:
1 box (3.4 oz) cook and serve chocolate pudding and pie filling
2 cups milk
2 soft chocolate cookies
1 cup nondairy whipped topping
chocolate curls for garnishing
Prepare the pudding and pie filling as per cooking directions, using milk. After cooking, place the pudding into a bowl and press plastic wrap on top, covering the surface. Refrigerate for about 1 hour or till the pudding is cold.
To prepare the parfait - Put 1/4 cup of pudding into a sherbet glass. Top it with 2 tbsp of nondairy whipped topping. Then crumble half a cookie and put into the parfait. Top it once more with 1/4 cup of pudding and put 2 tbsp of the whipped topping again. You can make it more appealing by garnishing with some chocolate curls.
4. Angel Food Delight
Ingredients:
2 angel food cakes
2 (15 oz) cans of crushed pineapple, drained
2 cans (8 oz) of cool whip, thawed
1 bag of flaked coconut
1 large jar of maraschino cherries, drained and cut into halves
Break one angel cake into bite size pieces and put into a pan. Top with 1 can pineapple and half of the cherries. Use 1 container of the cool whip and spread all over the pan and top it with coconut flakes as much as you want. Break the other angel cake into pieces and repeat the layering of the other ingredients. Cover and let it stay in the fridge overnight.
5. Ice Cream Delight
Ingredients:
1 angel food cake
1/2 gallon of strawberry ice cream
1 cup of fresh strawberries
whipped cream
Put angel cake in a flat platter. Using an icing knife, cover the whole sides of cake with strawberry ice cream. Before the ice cream starts to melt, quickly put on the strawberries on sides of the cake. You can use the other half of strawberries to make a cute design on the cake. Freeze until ice cream hardens. Top with delicious whipped cream and its ready to serve.
6. Banana Cream Pie
Ingredients:
2 packages instant vanilla pudding
2 bananas
1 pre-made pie crust
wafers
whip cream
Prepare the vanilla pudding as per cooking directions. Allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes after cooking to thicken it up a bit. Cut the bananas in to 1 inch circles and place them on top of the pie crust to line the bottom of the pie. Using a spoon carefully put the pudding into the crust up to the top. Put the whipped cream on top of the pudding. Then crush some wafers and spread on top. Put in the fridge and cool for about 4 hours before serving.
These cold recipes can be done any time of the year or as much as you want to. The ingredients are easy to find, most are precooked or preserved and easily purchased in the grocery.
