Treating Leg Cramps by Changing Eating Habits

An unexpected movement in the muscle or in the foot can cause leg cramps. Studies have showed that leg cramps often show up at nights when you lay down or during and after exercises due to over-stretching or pulling. Lactic acid buildup has been seen in some leg cramp cases as well but this is when the leg cramp cause is too severe.

While experiencing a leg cramp, flexing your toes is a good idea to ease the pain. Laying down relaxing and taking deep breaths is also recommended. Oxygen helps relax the muscle as it passes through and gets you enough relaxation to start messaging the leg or the cramp spot. Messaging towards the heart really helps as the blood circulation increases and flow of blood helps the muscles heal back quickly.

Lack of B-complex vitamins is the top most cause of suffering from leg cramps. If the cramp is felt deep in the muscles or at the bone joints then it indicates to deficiency in vitamin C. Eating a nutritious diet is the only way to be healthy and keeping yourself away from such problems. Spinach along with other green vegetables can easily fulfill the requirements of such vitamins and minerals. If you are someone who would like to go with the traditional ways of getting rid of leg cramps then have some Chamomile tea along with fresh ginger. It is said to be the best sedative to the nervous system plus it contains high amount of magnesium, calcium and other vital minerals.

Everyone knows that ginger is important when blood circulation needs a speed up, making the body warmer and more active. Keeping a track of your calcium intake is very important as it is very essential to fight leg cramps and other illnesses. Adding up milk, yogurt and other calcium filled food to your every day diet schedule will be a wise idea. In some cases, leg cramps have nothing to do with the food intake, consult a good trainer or a nutritionist in this condition, do not assume anything and treat yourself otherwise as I said that Lactic acid buildup does exists.

Dehydration is a common cause for leg and muscle cramps in athletes and youngsters. Increasing the consumption of salty foods after workouts or trainings can help get over dehydration as it helps in fulfilling the requirements for fluids. Just make sure that you drink sufficient amount of water looking at how much you sweated. Sitting and posing in a particular position for a long time can also lead to leg cramps so try practicing relaxation exercises.

Just make sure that you give your body proper intervals while working throughout the day and consume food having the right nutrition’s to avoid problems like leg cramps.
