Before discussing symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome with you, I would like you to know what actually carpal tunnel syndrome is. When the median nerve that passes through the fibrous carpal tunnel in the front section of wrist is squeezed, carpal tunnel syndrome is caused. The disturbance of the nerve is usually because of the tissue damage and inflammation. It can be a result of any strenuous or effort consuming activity, sport, weight lifting or anything.
There are several symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. The pain that is caused by the stretched nerve goes from forearm to the frontal fingers and even to the phalanges. You feel numbness in the fingers excluding the little finger of your hand and half of the finger nearest the little finger. You can determine if you are confronting the syndrome by taping the front of your fingers, you might feel a tingling sensation as you do so. The pain is generally the worst at the night time while you are resting and not straining the fingers much.
You would need to have immediate care and medication if the condition gets severe. As soon as you start getting swelling or unbearable pain you need to seek a good doctor. You also need to go to a medical guidance council once you feel that the numbness is taking over all of the hands and fingers. Doctors usually remark to have elastic bandage or splinting as a treatment for the carpal tunnel syndrome. They also advice you to avoid anything that results in stress on your carpals or Meta carpals. If your twitched nerve is not responding to the splinting treatment, doctors will suggest you to use injections or cortico steroids. Surgery may be recommended for any cases that cannot be cured by regular methods of treatments.
The carpal tunnel syndrome is said to be causing from any stress or tensed situations. It could also result from any workload that you are having at your home or at the office. Improper sitting arrangements could be a reason as well. Make sure your body position is well managed before you start to take off for a heavy workload. Take breaks while doing your tasks so your palm and hands would get the calmness they require to function.
Do not take this issue lightly; you might end up paying heavy otherwise!
