How to Help Your Child Study Better
By Jason Ladock | Parenting | Unrated

There are some children who are naturally gifted with good study habits, whereas there are some who face problems with studies. Helping your child improve in his/her studies would not only help him get good marks but also boost the confidence. Being aggressive with your child is not the right way to make him improve on studies. Here are some tips that can help your child study well.

• The first thing that you need to make your child understand is what can study better pay him. Give him examples of successful personalities and how they achieved their dreams. When you know the dreams of your child, help him/her work towards achieving that and guide him/her in the proper direction. These basic things are instilled in your child by their teachers, but when at home it is also your duty to motivate your kids.

• Make a nice study area for your child. Keep the place clean and the atmosphere serene. This will help your child concentrate better. Put up some motivating quotations and be present nearby, so that if your child needs help you can be present. Kids get distracted by television; when your child is studying make sure that the television is switched off. This will help your child concentrate better.

• If your child has any doubts, be present around to clarify. Take your child’s textbooks and go through them once, so that you are also aware of the subjects and what the child is studying. When your child sees that you are interested in their studies, it will help them improve fast. Don’t scare your child, or else they might never open up to you.

• Always have reasoning behind every doubt that your child has. Ask the child on what he/she thinks about a certain topic and then focus on the reasoning part. This will help you understand on how your child thinks and what changes need to be brought inside him/her.

• When your child is not studying, casually discuss about his/her subjects and the doubts that they are facing. Clarify those doubts and make it seem easier to your child rather than condemning him/her on not understanding simple things. Remember that your child has a lower understanding power than you.

• For kids, it is always better to have things pictorially represented. In case of math problems, you can solve them with marbles or drawings so that there is enough reasoning involved to make them understand the formula. This helps the child in remembering things for a longer time and more effectively.

• Every child has his/her own capacity. Don’t force your child to be seated in front of the books all the time. It is just forcing your child to do something that he doesn’t want to do. Give your child enough physical exposure so that the mind gets refreshed.

Following these simple yet effective tips will not only help your child improve in his/her studies, but also in building up a good personality.
