Applebee's Dessert Recipes
By Rick Missimer | Cooking | Unrated

There are many recipes in the world that are passed on from generation to generation. Most of the time families prefer to keep the recipe a secret within the family. Even popular restaurants like KFC and Applebee’s never fail to guard their secret recipes. However, this does not stop us from wanting to recreate the magic that these eateries serve on a plate.

Applebee’s is a family restaurant chain in the United States. Children and adults love the menu items available including the Applebee’s Maple Blondie, which is one of the most popular desserts available. It simply divine to look at and a real treat for a person’s taste buds. The real spectacle is the presentation and serving style. To recreate this recipe, one has to understand the various tastes and flavors in the dessert. You will need to make the maple butter sauce and Blondie (cake) dough separately.

To make the Blondie you will need:

1 ˝ cups flour which is sifted

1 teaspoon baking powder

˝ teaspoon salt

1 ˝ cups butter or margarine

1 ˝ cups brown sugar, packed

2 eggs, beaten

1 ˝ teaspoons pure vanilla (preferably Bourbon vanilla) extract

1 cup chopped pecans

1 cup white chocolate chunks cut from good quality white chocolate or white chocolate chips

for the maple sauce you will need:

1 ˝ cups powdered sugar

˝ cup cream cheese

˝ cup pure maple syrup

˝ cup softened butter

˝ teaspoon vanilla

Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

2. To make the Blondie cake, whip the egg whites until they are stiff and form peaks. Add softened butter, ˝ cup of packed brown sugar, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and vanilla and mix until the batter is smooth. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the wet ingredients and mix until all the lumps are out and the batter is smooth. Mix in the milk white chocolate and the walnuts.

3. Pour the batter onto a square baking pan. Spread evenly. Let the cake bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until center comes out clean.

4. While the blondie cake is baking, make the maple sauce.

5. Combine the sugar, syrup, and butter and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring often.

6. Cook for two minutes.

7. Remove from heat and whisk in the cream cheese and vanilla.

8. Cut the blondie cake into squares. Cover with a scoop of butter pecan ice cream, drizzle with the warm sample syrup and sprinkle with more chopped pecans or walnuts. This needs to be served immediately.
