How to Get Rid of Acne Scars

Apart from the pain of highly inflamed pimples, acne leaves dirty marks on the skin. This is the major problem faced by most of the acne sufferers. Naturally acne leaves mild scars that disappear with time. If you try to rupture the pimples so as to cures them over the night it results in deep scars that may or may not fade and make permanent marks on the skin. Most of them consider the use of medications right at the initial stages that eliminates the risk of scarring, but that is not so. Melanin secretion is a protective feature skin adopts to protect internal layers from the penetration of UV rays and other harmful chemicals through the skin cracks that occur as a result of acne pimples.

Main cause for acne scars is concentration of melanin pigment at the site of pimples. The greater the intensity of the acne pimples the greater the melanin accumulation and darker will be the scars. There are four different varieties of scars.

Ice pick scars: These are deep scars that make pits in the skin.

Box car scars: These scars can be restricted to superficial skin surface or may go deep in to the skin.

Rolling scars: As given by the name they give a wavy pattern to the skin.

Hypertrophic scars: These are highly thick scars with greater amount of melanin concentrated in the scar area.

Here are some tips to get rid of acne scars.

If the scars are mild you can get rid of them by regular application of honey or agents like benzoyl peroxide that regulate the bacterial growth and decrease the risk of forming scars. Even home remedies like the use of tea tree oil, aloe vera gel give promising results.

Generally, deep scars occur as a result of either neglecting acne or by rupturing pimples. For deep scars some special treatments are needed, they include the following:

Most of these treatments aim at bringing the skin to the normal level by filling the scarred area. These treatments should be used only under medical supervision.

Collagen injection: In this method of treatment collagen extracted from either cows or humans, this is injected into the scarred area. However, it is not suggested to use for people with auto immune disorders. Hence, it is essential to find out the chance of any allergic reactions before proceeding to treat the scars.

Micro lipoinjection: Though a temporary effect but is free of any side effects. In this method fat is injected to fill the scars. Once the fat gets dissolved or metabolized along with the body fats it has to be injected again. This generally occurs in a period of six to eight months.

Punch technique: If you are ready to undergo mild surgeries then this is the right procedure for deep ice-pick scars. In this procedure a cosmetic surgeon eliminates the scarred area by cutting with cookie cutter like device. Then he sews the cut region. Most of them worry if the sutures will be visible on the face. Do not worry, your cosmetic surgeon will take care of them and will give a new look to your face devoid of any scars.
