Sweating at normal range is considered as healthy and beneficial to the body. It helps to regulate the body temperature when the external climate is too hot. It even helps to eliminate the toxic materials from the body. However, if the sweating is too much you will not definitely love it. Lets see how to stop sweating in your hands.
Sweating in hands or underarms is a worst problem that most of people have. It has to be treated at an early stage to avoid problems in the future. For example, having sweaty hands may not be a big problem when you are young. When you grow up and start interacting with people, you will definitely have to shake hands with others which will make you quite embarrassing. In some cases it may also ruin the business relationships.
Scientifically, the problem of excessive sweating is termed as hyperhidrosis. It can be due to internal health problems such as neurologic disorders or metabolic disturbances, but some people who are quite healthy, sweat all the time with no reason.
The problem of having sweaty palms can be controlled by treating it appropriately. There are a great number of available treatments for excessive sweating. Some of them are discussed below.
The first step towards treating sweating hands is the use of antiperspirants. If the problem is not answered by over the counter drugs, it is essential to use antiperspirants with aluminum chloride hexahydrate. The drug is taken regularly for a period of eight to ten days and when the sweating seems to be controlled, the drug is taken once in a week just to keep the sweating under control. This may not work well for everyone.
Iontophoresis: This involves passing electric current through the skin. It is done by using water for about ten to fifteen minutes and is done thrice a week. The actual working of this technique is not known, but is known to show effective results.
Another set of oral drugs include anticholinergics. However, they are not frequently used as they cause dry mouth.
As can be seen, the above processes cost much and do not give promising results. It is possible that consumption of a well balanced diet might control the problem. To prevent excessive sweating of hands you have to practice certain habits like avoid frequent washing of hands with cold water. Geranium oil or cypress oil give relief from sweating but the oil has to be applied repeatedly. However, it is considered as best option as it is a natural remedy and also costs less.
Other techniques that give effective results is that if the extent of sweating is less, include application of 20% solution of aluminum chloride to the hands, and rubbing the hands with cornstarch or talcum powder.
If you are a patient with high blood pressure, you can gain control over the problem of sweating in hands by just controlling your blood pressure through regular practice of yoga asana and meditation.
Last note: Before you attempt to use any medications it is recommended to consult a doctor and use a method that best suits your needs.
