How to Lose Weight After Pregnancy

One major worry which every pregnant woman has is how to lose those extra pounds after giving birth to a baby. Most of the moms will put up an extra weight of 25-30 pounds at the time of pregnancy. Fifty percent of it will lose at the time of giving birth to the baby in the form of fluid loss. Now, the task is to lose the remaining fifty percent of the weight. Here is some help to reduce those extra pounds.

• A great number of women hesitate to breastfeed the babies with a fear of losing their physique. But it is not right. Breastfeeding your baby helps you to burn a total of 500 calories a day. Thus, breast feeding helps you to lose your weight very easily.

• It is essential to put breaks on the amount of food consumed after giving birth to your baby. The existing fat reserves can very well meet those extra demands put by breast feeding and tissue repair. It is recommended to consume a diet of 1200-1500 calories per day after pregnancy. But make sure that the diet is nutritious and well balanced. It is recommended to consume more number of smaller meals to meet the needs of breast feeding. Include starchy foods such as bread, pasta, rice and potatoes in your meal. Consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, sprouted grains, whole grains and protein rich foods like beans, eggs and fish. It is highly essential to consume calcium rich foods such as dairy products to meet the calcium demands. Apart from the diet you take, it is also recommended to consume plenty of fluids.

• Another important measure that helps you to lose weight and bring your body back to working normally is to practice exercises regularly. Do not push yourself. Listen to your body. It is recommended to start with simpler exercises for a very short duration and gradually increase the degree of complexity and duration. However, practice exercises under the guidance of a doctor. Two to three months after giving birth to a baby is the right time to start vigorous exercises. Regular practice of exercise will not only helps you to lose weight but also helps you to overcome the postpartum depression. If you thought that exercising burns extra calories and interferes with breast feeding, don’t worry it will not cause any disturbance to breast feeding.

• Alcoholic moms should quit the habit while breastfeeding to safeguard the health of the baby. It is recommended to consume caffeine free diets.

• It is possible to gain weight after you stop to breastfeed. Hence, it is essential to be on fore mentioned strict measures for a certain period of time even after stopping to breastfeed and attaining the previous weight.

Never be on a haste to lose all those extra pounds over the night. If you do so you will definitely regain it within a very short period. Take it slowly. Do not adopt the paths adopted by models. Concentrate on having a nutritious foods and satisfying the needs of your new born baby. You will definitely be back to your normal shape within a period of six months.
