The German potato salad is an easy snack recipe. If you are hungry at odd hours and don’t want to have fried stuff, then you can opt for a German potato salad. Here is how you can make this salad.
Recipe 1: Ingredients:
Potatoes: 4
Bacon slices: 4
All-purpose flour: 1 tbsp
White sugar: 2 tbsp
Water: 1/3 cup
White wine vinegar: ¼ cup
Green onions (chopped): 1/2 cup
Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
Take a large pot and add salt to the water and boil it. Add the potatoes to it and cook until they become soft, this will take 15 minutes. Drain the water and chop the potatoes. Take a skillet and place the bacon in it. Cook on medium flame until they become brown. Dab the extra oil and let them cool, and then crumble into small pieces.
Keep the oil in which you cooked the bacon, and in the same oil add the flour, water, sugar and vinegar and cook over medium flame. Now add the bacon pieces, onion and the chopped potatoes to this flour, mix and cook until they are coated. Let it heat for some time, then add salt and pepper to taste. Serve the German potato salad warm.
Recipe 2: Ingredients:
Potatoes: 6 or 7
Bacon (broken into bits): 2-slices
Diced red onion: ¼ cup
Red or white vinegar: 2 tbsp
Beef stock: 1 cup
Evoo
Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
Boil the potatoes until they become soft. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small bite sizes. Place the potato pieces in a salad bowl. Add the onions and the beef stock and mix well. Next, add vinegar and the bacon crumbs and mix it again to get an even mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste. Just as you are about to serve, sprinkle it first with evoo, and have the delicious German potato salad.
Recipe 3: Ingredients:
Yellow Finish potatoes: 10-12
Onion: 1 large
Vegetable or chicken broth: ½ to ¾ cup
White vinegar: ¼ cup
Water: 2 tbsp
Oil: ¼ cup and 1 tbsp
Salt and pepper to taste
Take water in a pot and boil the potatoes until they are fork poking soft but still firm. Drain out the water and let the potatoes cool. In the meanwhile, chop the onion. Take oil and heat it in a frying pan and fry the onions until they are light brown and crisp. Peel the potatoes, slice them thinly and place them in a bowl. On this, add the friend onions and gently toss. Take a small bowl and make a smooth mixture of the broth, vinegar and oil in it. Add this mixture into potato and onion mix and blend gently. Add salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate the salad for sometime preferable 2-3 hours and serve.
The German potato salad is a good choice for any occasion and is easy to make. With the simple preparations you can include other ingredients that can make the German potato salad taste tangy and hot.
