Hives Treatment and Symptoms
By Jason Ladock | Skin Conditions | Unrated

Hives is a skin condition appearing on the surface of the skin in the form of red bumps. Its occurrence is sudden, and it’s usually caused due to allergic reactions. Although food and medicine allergies are amongst the most common contributors to this skin condition, there are several other factors that are responsible for the outbreak of hives in an individual. Insect bites, animal dander, specific illness, excessive stress and exposure to sun or cold can also lead to hives.

Constant itching and burning sensations are the symptoms associated with hives. The plasma present within the body leaks in to the skin tissue resulting into red and nasty bumps on the affected area. The worst part is that the itching and burning is bad enough to affect your day to day activities. They can be a vulnerable factor for your distraction, due to constant pain and burning sensation.

Hives fades away on their own without any kind of treatments. However, in cases where they do not disappear on their own, proper treatment is required to evacuate them. Hives can appear on any part of the body. Allergy testing is conducted to determine the causes of hives in an individual. Let’s examine the treatments one can follow to get rid of hives.

Most doctors advice antihistamines to the sufferers. Antihistamine helps one get relief from the constantly bothering itching sensation. The timing of this medication is a key factor to remember, as they have the potential to make an individual feel drowsy, thus affecting their regular activities.

Natural homemade remedies have their own space when it comes to treating hives. Let’s have a look at the home remedies for curing hives.

Sandalwood oil is very popular for its cooling and healing effect for hives. One can use a cotton ball after soaking it in sandalwood oil, and then apply it on the affected body part in regular intervals throughout the day.

Mint is another popular natural remedy used in households across the world for the treatment of hives. Mint reduces the itching and burning sensation very quickly, thus providing a lot of relief to the sufferer.

In this treatment, mint is prepared in the form of ice cube, and applied on the affected area. The whole process is very simple. One needs to crush the mint leaves, and boil it in hot water for about 10 minutes. The next step is to pour that water on the ice tray before placing them in the refrigerator for cooling. The ice cube will be formed in a matter of few hours, which can be applied on the affected body part upon formation.

Hives rashes can be very uncomfortable to deal with. Depending upon the severity of the problem, the itchiness can drive one insane, especially if it is followed by severe burning sensation and pain.

Hives have the potential to spread quickly, which is why one should not take this condition lightly. For convenience, one should skip tight clothes, try to stay cool and avoid stress and exercise, when affected by hives.
