By Rick Missimer | Constipation | Unrated

Constipation is a non avoidable problem, characterized by difficulty in bowel movements. Studies reveal that more than 65% of the Americans experience the problem of constipation at some point or the other.

Bowel movements should correlate with the meals you have within 24 hours. If you have two meals in a day, then you should have two bowel movements. If this is not the case, then you are most likely a possible victim of constipation.

We always wish to have a smoother digestion process each time we consume some food. Despite our best efforts, at times constipation arrives like unwanted guests, surprising you and affecting your clockwise routine. One of the reasons for its large dominance is the fact that it is triggered by several food items. Let’s take a look at the food items that can cause constipation.

Dairy Products

Over consumption of dairy products are common amongst Americans. You will find cheese all over their dining table, irrespective of the time of the day. Eating large amount of dairy products can cause constipation. They contain no fiber, and most of the ingredients in dairy products are filled with fats which does not aid in the digestion process, if consumed in excess. Milk is one amongst the most notorious food item responsible for the cause of constipation. Cheese, butter, quark etc can pose digestion problems. Elimination of dairy products from your diet can pretty much eliminate or decrease the cause of constipation to an extent.

Wheat

Wheat is another culprit causing constipation amongst individuals. Although a favorite amongst the crowd, wheat products like cakes, pastries, cookies and pastas are not usually recommended, in order to avoid constipation problems.

Meat and Eggs

Excessive consumption of meat and eggs are also responsible for the cause of constipation amongst some individuals. In several societies, meat and eggs are a part and parcel of their regular meal, making them all the more prone towards constipation. The digestion system has difficulty in processing such food items in some individuals, leaving them with frequent constipation problems.

Processed Foods

Avoid any kind of processed foods you get in the market. It’s a fact that our busy lifestyle demands them to be a part of our life. However, most processed foods are stripped off all the essential nutrients and fiber required for good health. In fact, they may contain unwanted fat and chemical ingredients leading to constipation and other problems in the long run.

Lack of fiber in the diet also causes constipation. Make sure that your diet contains fiber rich food items, in order to curb the occurrence of constipation. Fruits and vegetables are a rich source of fiber.

Respond to the symptoms your body provides, and stop burdening your system with any of these food items, especially when you are loaded with many alternate products. Having a balanced diet, working out regularly and drinking loads of water is a good cost effective way to decrease or get rid of the constipation problem. Bringing these changing in your lifestyle and diet is a must to lead, in order to lead a constipation free healthy life.
