Greek Salad Dressing Recipe

If you have ever been to a restaurant that serves Greek food, then you would know the taste of the salad dressings that they serve. If you have tasted it and wish you could make it by yourself then here are a few Greek salad dressing recipes that you can try on your own.

Recipe 1:

Ingredients:

Olive oil: 1½ cup

White vinegar: ¼ cup

Fresh lemon juice: ¼ cup

Salt: ¼ tsp.

Pepper: ½ tsp.

Dried whole oregano: 1 tbsp.

Garlic, minced: 2 small cloves

Preparation:

For making this Greek salad dressing recipe, you need to mix all the ingredients in a lidded bowl or a jar and mix them briskly so that all the ingredients are mixed well. Refrigerate the dressing for at least 2 hours and then dress your salad and serve.

Recipe 2:

Ingredients:

Lemon juice: 2 tablespoons

Water: 3 tablespoon

Minced garlic: 1 clove

Dried thyme leaves: 1 teaspoon

Dried Greek oregano leaves: 1 teaspoon

Anchovy paste or mashed anchovies: 1 teaspoon

Salt: ¼ teaspoon

Black cracked pepper: ¼ teaspoon

Extra virgin olive oil: ¾ cup

Preparation:

To make this Greek salad dressing, first add the lemon juice and water into a jar and mix it well. Add the other ingredients except the olive oil and mix well. Make sure that all the ingredients are blended well, so that you have a smooth well-blended paste. Add the olive oil and shake vigorously. Store this salad dressing in the refrigerator, and every time that you want to use it shake well before adding it on your salad. This salad dressing lasts for about a week.

Recipe 3:

Ingredients:

Vinegar balsamic: 2 tablespoons

Water: 2 tablespoon

Dried thyme leaves: ½ tsp.

Greek oregano (dried leaves): ½ tsp.

Basil leaves (crushed and dried): ½ tsp.

Marjoram leaves (dried): ½ tsp.

Salt: ¼ teaspoon

Black pepper (cracked): ¼ tsp.

Extra virgin olive oil: ¾ cup

Preparation:

For making this dressing, pour the balsamic vinegar in a bottle, which you can use for shaking. Add the remaining ingredients to this and also the water. Don’t add the olive oil at this stage. Make sure that you mix it well so that all the ingredients are mixed properly and also the dry ingredients to be mix also. When you use this salad dressing shake it before using. You can refrigerate the salad dressing for a week. But ensure that it is not spoilt before you use it.

The simplest of the Greek salad dressings contains lemon and olive oil; these are the main ingredients for all the varieties of Greek salads. You can make your own combinations and try out different ingredients, but the base should be olive oil and lemon. The Greek salad dressing goes well with any type of salad and you can try them out with your own salad recipe.
