How to Get Rid of Yawning

There are a great number of reasons for yawning. Most of them consider that yawning is a way for the body to express that it is tired and needs some rest. But, yawning could also be due to lowered oxygen level in the brain. Yawning is generally caused due to repeated deep breathes. Another common cause for yawning known by all of us is either the thought or just by looking others who are yawning. Sometimes, yawning is caused when you start to feel bored. However, the perfect reason for yawning is not yet clearly known.

Whatever the cause, yawning in the day time or when you are in a gathering or when everyone accompanying you, are seriously involved in work will be very uncomfortable. Here are some tips to get rid of yawning.

• If you are bored of the existing environment, get up and involve yourself in some other interesting work.

• Drink a glass of water. As said earlier, yawning could be due to tiredness. Drinking a lot of water will help you to rehydrate the body and thus, rejuvenates the body and suppresses the feeling of yawning at least for some time.

• Yawning could be due to lack of oxygen or due to high concentration of carbon dioxide in the lungs. Reduce the carbon dioxide levels by taking breathe and try to hold the breath as long as you can and then exhale out.

• Have a good night sleep. A perfect night sleep reduces the extent of stress on your mind and hence, you feel fresh and active. Thus, reducing the chances of you getting bored very easily.

• Suppressing the yawns also reduces the feeling of yawning. Suppressing a yawn is done by forcing on Adams apple or over the eve’s orange in girls.

• If the above solutions do not work, you can reduce the extent of yawning by covering your mouth with your hand.

• Avoid staring at others who are yawning.

• Sometimes, yawning is caused due to heart problems. In such cases, treating heart problems reduces yawning. It could also be due to asthma or other lung problems. Hence, it is recommended to get them cured by contacting a physician.

• If you are free of health problems and if the above measures are not working, then listen to your body and go to bed for some time. A short nap after meals in the afternoon prevents yawning. You do not have to go to sleep. Even if you just close your eyes and take deep breaths, you will automatically start feeling better and will definitely stop yawning.

• If you are worried about the yawning of your new born, just forget about it. Never try to put the baby forcibly to sleep as it is yawning too much. It is just a measure to get them out of pressure.

• If you are bored at office, try taking a walk or chat with your friends.

Yawning is quiet embarrassing. Hope the above measures help you in preventing yawning and thus, reduces the chances of others getting a bad image about you.
