Keeping a rabbit inside your home can be a temporary way of giving them a shelter. Building a rabbit hutch will answer your problem. It’s a place where rabbits rest, it’s their little cage. Usually, the size of the hutch depends on the size of your pet. It is usually made four times the size of your pet, so it can allow them to freely move inside the hutch. If you have a lot of rabbit that needs a shelter, you will need to build a bigger hutch. Although there are other materials you can use in making a hutch. You should always keep in mind that there are some pets that have prevalent smell. It is advisable to use metal materials instead of wood, because in metal the smell won’t retain. Wood material can be best for outdoor positioning of the hutch.
You can use wire mesh for the walls and roofs. For the floor you can use wire cloth instead, it is safer for your pet’s paw and it is also best for your pets urine. You can put some wire on a mesh for the walls regardless of the material you used in it. Don’t forget to use soldering iron when you use a metal frame while staple gun for wood frame, this will protect your pet from being harmed by the materials used.
Rabbits habitually urinate, so you need to cut the size of the Formica to the desired size and insert it under the enclosure. You now made a wonderful hutch for your pet to enjoy. Taking care of your rabbit doesn’t stop when you’ve built their hutch. It’s just the start of an inter-personal relationship with them. Once you’ve already given them shelter, you should also check on their grooming always. This includes cleaning them and their hutch. Rabbits tend to have sores when they are kept in a metal hutch, you need to always keep them and their hutch clean to prevent them from sores. You don’t need to be anxious because just like any other pet, rabbits can be toilet trained.
You can start by putting some pellet grass products; this will not cause intestinal problems even though they ingest it. Taking care of your pet rabbit can be difficult at first, but as you go along, you will be used to it. You can make your own research in the internet, so you will be able to know how you can properly take care of your rabbit. You need to learn a lot of things about them and on how you will be able to handle them especially with their diet.
