Hair Loss During Pregnancy – A Natural Phenomenon

Many women suffer hair loss during and after pregnancy. This is a common consequence of the body changes that are constantly occurring during the pregnancy. It is totally normal and does not require any treatment or cures. You hair is simply getting confronted off the hormonal changes that are taking place during the pregnancy.

Normally, hair growth takes place in two phases. They go through anagen cycle where the proper growth and nourishment of the hair takes place and then the telogen phase in which the resting occurs. After the growth stage hair tends to rest their metabolism and stay still for a few months. It lasts for about three months while the growth phase takes place for about four to seven years. In growth stage, the old hair follicles are pushed out of the epidermis, making room for the new ones to grow. So it is normal to lose hair after the telogen phase because the hair layer is getting replaced every so often.

The most attractive thing about pregnant women is their long, shinny hair forming a thick growth than the usual ones. This is due to the fact that hormones are constantly producing in the body to keep the hair in the anagen phase. In the normal days, you might lose 100 strands of your hair but during pregnancy that lasts for about 280 days; this figure might increase a bit.

Once the baby is born and the pregnancy is eliminated, hormones start to change their course rapidly. You will enter in the telogen phase immediately that lasts for about three months. So after the baby comes into the world, you lose the entire safe and secure hair strands at the same time. There are 28,000 strands overall.

What can you do to recover from hair loss after pregnancy? It is an important thing for you to take care of. You should get help form your spouse or any babysitter which would look after the baby while you can seek some help from better hairdresser for the nourishment of your hair. Give yourself a new look by deciding a new haircut that is suitable for you to handle and one that would make your hair less prone to fall.
