How to Improve Your Mood Naturally
By Jonathan Pitts | Mental Health | Unrated

We all have different moods. Our moods vary from time to time depending on how we feel and some outside factors in our immediate surroundings. Moods may be positive or negative and either way these affect our way of life. So, it would be good to know how to handle our moods and try to continually improve them in the most natural ways we can.

• Try out a simple exercise involving your subconscious mind. First, close your eyes and think of all happy memories that would make you feel happy and smile. As you feel yourself smiling, snap your fingers and open your eyes. Do this at least three times a day in about a week. This is to exercise your subconscious mind to get used to the snapping of your fingers as a signal to bring back happy memories to your mind.

• Try to laugh more often. Try reading something funny or watching some comedy on TV. Laughing is a good way to improve your moods.

• Another good way to improve the mood is through exercise. Some moderate exercises that are good for the mind and the body are swimming, jogging, brisk walking and aerobics.

• Do exercises that will expose you to enough sunlight to energize yourself.

• Try aromatherapy which is good to calm down senses. It can keep your moods settled and improve your moods naturally as well. Aroma and essential oils are generally accepted as good mood enhancers as well as beneficial to emotional and physical health.

• A good sleep is good for your mood. The body needs at least 6-8 hours of sleep to get the complete rest it needs.

• The diet has to affect your moods somehow. Avoid junk food. Eat more balanced variety of both fresh fruits and vegetables daily. Eat fish, take vitamin supplements and drink plenty of water. Don’t take too much alcohol and avoid smoking as well.

• Try to socialize more with families and friends. Try to talk about happy memories and positive things. Be with positive people who can lift up your moods and help you feel positive as well. Try taking up creative hobbies such as painting, photography or knitting to keep you occupied and your mood is concentrated on your creative side.

• Get a pet that you can take care of and play with. Research studies have found out that pets seem to have some calming effects on people. These pets help people recover from some health disorders and increase wellness in the overall psychological and physiological health of people.

The different moods we feel happen because we let them happen. If we try to live a healthy and stress-free life, we can avoid bad moods. If we want to improve our moods the natural way, all that we need is to be in touch with your inner self and make all the necessary improvements you know. It is really about making the right choices, more of the positive ones over the negative ones.
