Tips for Less Breakage in Black Hair
By Jonathan Pitts | Hair Care | Unrated

The care for black hair is a part of good grooming. The hair strands of black hair may be considered as delicate to care for, because of some factors that may damage the hair. One of the most common problems for black hair is having hair breakage. This problem can be avoided by just following some practical tips for hair care.

One important thing to remember is that dryness causes hair breakage. To take care of this problem, always make sure to buy the best shampoo and hair conditioner for the hair. A deep protein shampoo treatment is recommended to use at least once or twice a week. If you feel you need to shampoo your hair because of dirt and pollutants in it, try to wash hair your with a well-balanced ph to maintain its oiliness and to lessen the dryness, especially on the hair ends or tips.

After the hair has been well moisturized, rinse well and dry off by squeezing excess water by the use of your fingers. Do not rub the hair with the towel as this would cause more entanglements. Always make use of a wide tooth comb for combing the hair. Gently run the comb through the hair and style it the way you want it to be. If you want to use a brush, get one that has widely spaced bristles. Don’t do this often because brushing too much can damage the hair.

If possible, try to comb your hair by parting first with your fingers into some sections, and then run a wide tooth comb through to avoid entanglements and breakage. Try to style your hair in different ways. Don’t tie up the hair too tightly because this can cause breakage. Try to just let the hair hang freely off your shoulders and avoid tugging the hair in different directions.

If you go for hair treatments, make sure to avoid the use of harsh chemicals and heat application to the hair. These cause more hair breakage, brittleness and dryness of hair. If you have to make use of relaxers, curler tongs and other hair treatments, do so sparingly like once every two or three weeks only.

Getting the hair trimmed every six or eight weeks is also good to prevent hair breakage. The hair ends or tips are usually the parts that get dried easily. As a precaution to protect the hair ends, wear a scarf or hat to protect hair from too much sun and wind.

In cases of severe hair breakage, the best way to save the rest of the hair is getting a haircut making the hair short, so new hair would grow to replace the cut ones.

The hair needs nutrients so it would be a good advantage if you eat a well-balanced diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, poultry and dairy products. Maintain a healthy life style of exercise and diet; avoid too much alcohol, too many sweets and fats. Do avoid smoking as this can have toxins damaging to the hair. Also, avoid stress and anxiety as these two factors cause hair damage as well.
