By Jonathan Pitts | Food Allergies | Unrated

Sometimes, even if you like a particular food to a great extent you cannot enjoy them due to the fear of developing allergic reactions. It is not essential to avoid all the foods with that fear. Identify the foods to which you are developing allergy and stay away from them.

Allergic condition is identified by the development of a rash and reddening of the skin which is generally termed as a wheel and flare reaction after its discoverer. Most of them are not aware of the fact that allergies are inheritable. If you are allergic to certain foods and if you wish to enable your kid to enjoy an allergy free life follow the below give tips.

• If you or any of your kid is found to have allergic reactions and you are pregnant now, then there will be a great chance for your new born to develop similar allergies. You can avoid it by breast feeding the baby.

• It is recommended to feed the baby solely on breast milk for about a period of six months. During the period of nursing the baby mother should avoid foods such as fish, eggs and cow milk.

• A great number of kids are allergic to groundnut. Hence avoid it.

• Strawberries which most of the kids love should be avoided until the child is about one year of age.

• If the child is found allergic to more common things we come across such as pet dander or other seasonal allergies, then the doctor may recommend the use of allergy shots. These are given to improve the resistance of immune system against the allergens. However, make sure that the symptoms are under control and it is recommended to start with small doses.

• If your previous child has suffered with lactose intolerance then do not give buffalo milk to your newborn baby. Keep him on breast feeding for a period of twelve months. However, from sixth month you can consider serving iron rich cereals.

• Do not give egg to the baby until the age of 2 years and avoid all foods that increase the risk of developing allergy until the baby is three years old.

• Wheat is another common substance to which most of them are allergic. It is the gluten part of the wheat that poses the risk of allergy. A great number of wheat supplements are available in the market. You can try them instead of wheat. If you are worried of the nutritional value, these products maintain nutritional value that is in par with the wheat.

• Apart from all the measures, it is essential to let the kids know of the foods that they are allergic to and help them learn to avoid such foods in future.

• One last suggestion is that if you are severely allergic to a particular food, it is recommended to not even give it a try for your kid until the age of three by which the kids immune system strengthens perfectly.

By keeping the above tips into practice you can reduce the chances of your child to become a victim of allergic reactions.
