Picnic Food Ideas

Picnics are full of fun, laughter and enjoyment and not to forget the best part is the food. However, deciding on what to carry to the picnic can be a bit difficult. Having sandwiches and excellent refreshing drinks make the most of the picnic basket. But, when you pack food for the picnic you need to keep in mind that it has to be fresh and should be according to the weather and the place that you are going to visit. Here are some great recipes that you can carry when going on a picnic.

Oatmeal Bread Recipe

For this recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:

Butter: ½ cup

Salt: 1 tsp.

Honey: ¼ cup

Egg: 1

Oatmeal: ½ cup

Active dry yeast: 1 envelope

Boiling water: ¾ cup

Warm water: ¼ cup

All-purpose flour: 2 cups

Sugar: ½ tsp.

Oat bran cereal (processed to flour): ¾ cup

Preparation:

To make this recipe take a large bowl, add oatmeal along with honey and butter in it and sprinkle some salt. Add some boiling water to this mix and stir the ingredients well. Keep aside to let the mixture cool down. Now, take the warm water and sprinkle yeast over it. Add some sugar and mix it carefully. Keep this mix aside until it becomes bubbly. Take a saucepan and spray some vegetable oil on it. Add the mix, egg and 1½ cup of all-purpose flour and the oat bran cereal flour. Beat these ingredients at low speed and slowly add the remaining ½ cup of flour to it.

Now graze this prepared dough on the saucepan and spray the top with little vegetable oil. Cover it with wax paper and put a tea towel over it. Place this in a warm area and let the dough rise to double the size. Now, preheat the oven at 375º F and bake the preparation. Make some yummy sandwiches with your own mixtures and carry along for the picnic.

Lemonade

If you are going out for a picnic in summers then lemonade is a must. Carry along some ice-cold water and lemons and sugar. You can make lemonade on the spot. Squeeze some lemons in the ice-cold water and add sugar. You can also add some cinnamon for taste and serve the people who have come for the picnic.

Carrot Salad

For this, you’ll need the following ingredients:

Carrots: 1 lb.

Sweet apples: 2

Lemon juice of 1 lemon

Plain non-fat yogurt: ¼ cup

Mayonnaise: 2 tbsp.

Granulated sugar: 1 tbsp.

Cinnamon: 1 tsp.

Preparation:

Grate the apples and the carrots in a food processor and add them to a bowl. Add the lemon juice and mix, and then add the remaining ingredients and stir the mixture well. Refrigerate the salad until you are ready to leave for the picnic.

These easy to make picnic recipes have a great taste and can be carried easily. Everyone enjoys these foods, especially when served on a picnic they increase the fun.
