What Causes Bad Breath?

Bad breath can be caused by a variety of factors. This is a condition that plagues many people and is embarrassing when one has to get near to others. If you have a bad breath and get close to another person, that person might feel uncomfortable. It is better to cure bad breath rather than letting it come in the way of your relationships. Bad breath is caused by odor causing bacteria that lodge themselves in your mouth and grow there. In medical terms, the condition is known as halitosis. For those of you who suffer from this condition, you can take heart in the fact that bad breath is curable and that here are simple but effective solutions to cure yourself of this irritant.

First, look at what causes of the bad breath. Certain foods like garlic and onion are known to cause bad breath in the people who take these foods regularly. Further, if you do not brush or floss your teeth frequently, the residue of the food that you have ingested would stick to your mouth and the bacteria would grow in your mouth resulting in bad breath. There are also some oily foods that make their way to your lungs and stick to the sides of your wind pipe and these results in bad breath. This is a disease that can be caused by several factors. You need to keep in mind some simple cures to avoid bad breath.

Many people think that mouth wash will make bad breath go away. This is a misconception and in most of the cases, it just provides a temporary relief that does not last long. One of the most common causes for bad breath is smoking and drinking coffee. These habits cause your breath to smell and this is because the fact that your mouth has dried up because of your caffeine and nicotine intake. This is a clear instance where drying of the mouth causes bad breath. This gives the bacteria an ample space and time to grow into your mouth. It is better to avoid smoking and drinking too much coffee as these will definitely cause bad breath. You should make a habit of drinking water in large quantities or having something that would keep your saliva circulating through your mouth.

The best way to avoid bad breath is by brushing your teeth and flossing your gums regularly. In case the problem persists even after you follow these steps, it is better to take some anti bacterial medication. Often, the antibiotics will help you in clearing your mouth of unwanted bacteria and provide relief to you from bad breath. You can use anti fungal medications as well. In conclusion, bad breath is a common ailment and something that has wide prevalence among the people. It is up to you to take measures to protect yourself against bad breath and ensure that you are not embarrassed when talking to other people.
