Stopping Dog Aggression
By Jason Ladock | Pet Related | Unrated

We frequently come across aggressive dogs. Some of the dog breeds are highly aggressive while others develop it depending on the circumstances which they are raised. It is highly essential to curb the aggressive behavior in the dog right from the beginning. Aggressive dogs develop the tendency to bite and bark which is not only irritating but also dangerous. This is especially dangerous if there are any small kids in the house. This article focuses on five simple ways that help you to tackle the problem of aggression in dogs.

1. Never shout at the dog aggressively. As they are just animals they too shout back aggressively. If this continues for a very long period, the dog becomes aggressive and starts to bark even if it is slightly irritated or disturbed.

2. Dogs generally need some sort of exercise regularly. If you do not provide the dog what it needs it will be idle and starts to cultivate the habit of barking out of frustration to relieve itself to the outside world. Hence, you can easily gain control over the aggressive dogs by socializing them. Take them out to a walk. This increases the chance of it meeting other dogs which is a sigh of relief for it. This is just similar to the way how we feel relieved of all our anger when we go out for a walk.

3. Training also helps to gain control over the aggressive behavior in dogs. Start to train the dog when they are small puppies. You can keep a word to say the dog when you wish to stop it barking. If you continue to use the same word in a same tone, the puppy will learn to stop barking whenever you say the word by understanding that its master is serious. Dogs generally love to play with kids. Hence, allow the kids to play with the dog. You can even train the dog in certain activities such as to catch a Frisbee or jump out of a bench.

4. Make sure that the environment you place the dogs is safe and comfortable for the dogs. Some of the dog breeds require a spacious environment. If you leave such breeds in a packed attic it will continuously bark out of discomfort. Hence, it is essential to know about the dog breed perfectly before you purchase them and make sure to provide all its requirements. Serve the dog with timely meals.

5. Take the help of a veterinarian if you could not gain control over the behavior of the dog. They may refer certain drugs in most severe cases to ease the dog. Sometimes, it is possible that the dog is suffering with certain internal illness that is making it to bark very loudly out of the pain. Taking to the veterinarian may be helpful as they will be diagnosing the problem.

One last suggestion is to know about the qualities of dog breeds before purchasing them and avoid the breeds that are aggressive rather than suffering to find ways to control the aggressiveness.
