The use of solar energy has been tapped as a good source of electricity. It is an effective method to cut down electric bill costs. It is also considered as one of the best renewable energy sources that nature has to offer. The way to make use of the sun’s solar energy is by making solar panels. You can make your own solar panels by taking in some more information about these kinds of panels and how to go about making them.

You have to believe in yourself that you can make one. It may take some planning. There is a guide book to properly instruct you in building the solar panel. There are few important things to know before you start.

1. First, decide about the number of panels you need to power your place. Are you thinking of just a particular area or will it be the whole house? A homemade solar panel is commonly made from cuts of plywood and wood strips coated with UV protective paints. The dimension of the panel would depend on the solar cells inside; it would be at least 18 volts of electricity, which means you need about 36 solar cells. The best recommended cell arrangement is the 4 cells across x 9 cells down arrangement; you would have a solar panel measuring about 35" long and by 27" wide. This would also cut down costs of buying lumber and reshaping or cutting it to the size that fit your needs.

3. Check your electric bills before making your solar panels and determine how much you would want to cut down your bills. Remember that the value is kilowatt per hour. So, you can decide if you want to cover your roof with more solar panels or just make do with some areas to still cut down on your electric bills.

The first three things are relatively easy to do. The next five things are a bit harder, especially if you are not a very technical person you wish you can be. You need to know the right size of your battery. You would have to know how to construct the panel casing. You also need to know how to carefully wire these solar panels. There would be the need to know how to wire cells together, and finally knowing how to firmly join the panels to your roof.

The main target of you wanting to make solar panels is to save on your electric bills. You want to save the environment and you want more natural energy into your home. All these reasons are valid to make you have the courage and self determination to do it on your own with the help of a good instructions manual. That said, hopefully you can. If not, you can always scout around for companies who can do these things for you for a reasonable cost.
