When an individual begins to seek treatment for a parasite infection this is usually the second, third or even fourth cause of their symptoms that they have explored. Due to their nature parasite symptoms are often identical to the symptoms of other diseases, ones that are perhaps more prevalent in western cultures.
While a parasite infection is more likely to occur if you visit a third world country where clean water is not readily available, there's no reason why they can't be picked up within your town or city. After all, if the chance arises then a parasite will definitely take it. With this in mind you should be able to recognize the main parasite symptoms, so that you aren't following treatment that will not get rid of the problem.
Parasites most often affect the digestive system and reside in the intestines. This means that the symptoms can mimic stomach complaints such as nausea, bloatedness, cramps and even irritable bowel syndrome. In turn problems with the digestion can mean that our body does not get all the nutrients it needs from food so we become irritable, tired, depressed and anxious. We may even become anemic and develop allergies as our body's immune system tries to eradicate the problem. Of course all of these parasite symptoms together sound very dramatic and severe, but in reality most of us only experience a few. One type of digestive parasite, the tapeworm, may cause weight loss, nausea, headaches and diarrhea but it can also travel through the bloodstream to the brain, causing epilepsy and should never be taken lightly.
The important thing to do if you are experiencing parasite symptoms and you suspect a parasite infection is to first visit your doctor. Don't be afraid to broach the subject of parasites, especially if you have been abroad in the past six months to a year. At the same time, don't be surprised if your doctor chooses to test other possibilities too, such as bacterial infection or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Helicobacter Pylori, for example, lives in almost 50% of the population's stomachs, yet a small percentage of those people cannot tolerate it. In turn the bacteria causes bloating, stomach pain, nausea and severe heartburn but it is still a bacteria and not a parasite.
The main parasite symptoms should never be taken lightly and if you do feel ill (consistently nauseated, craving sugar, insomnia and problems with the teeth as well) then you should always visit your doctor for advice. If they do prescribe you medication to kill the parasite then do take into consideration that natural remedies may work for you. This is a path many patients choose to take because prescription medications often cause unwanted side effects and only kill off one or two strains of parasite. Natural remedies may not be as strong but they will not make you ill and can affect many different parasite species at the same time. You can find more information on these methods by doing a simple search for natural parasite cleanses online.
